Read your free e-book: http://appgame.space/mebk/50/en/B005F667HE/book Historians have focused almost entirely on the attempt by southern African Americans to attain equal rights during Reconstruction. However, the northern states also witnessed a significant period of struggle during these years. Northern blacks vigorously protested laws establishing inequality in education, public accommodations, and political life and challenged the Republican Party to live up to its stated ideals. In "we Will Be Satisfied With Nothing Less," Hugh Davis concentrates on the two issues that African Americans in the North considered most essential: black male suffrage rights and equal access to the public schools. Davis connects the local and the national; he joins the specifics of campaigns in places such...

Listen to the full audiobook: http://easyget.us/mabk/30/en/B015WJ10UW/book This book traces the South West Africa People's Organization (swapo) across its three decades in exile through rich, local histories of the camps where Namibian exiles lived in Tanzania, Zambia, and Angola. Christian A. Williams highlights how different Namibians experienced these sites, as well as the tensions that developed within Swapo as Namibians encountered one another and as officials asserted their power and protected their interests within a national community. The book then follows Namibians who lived in exile into post-colonial Namibia, examining the extent to which divisions and hierarchies that emerged in the camps continue to shape how Namibians relate to one another today, undermining the more just an...
Listen to the full audiobook: http://easyget.us/mabk/30/en/B01CIKTQFE/book Each country in southern Africa has a unique history but in all of them socio-economic inequalities and high poverty levels weaken the governments legitimacy and represent a challenge to models of economic development. One key issue appears to be the solution of the land question. This vital concern affects both citizenship and democracy in the political systems of the region, yet no government has shown the capacity or commitment to solve it. In this volume leading European, American and African scholars explore in detail the relationship between state, land and democracy. They examine the historical background of asset allocation and its impact on questions of nationality, the definition of citizenship, human righ...

A festival has been held in South Africa to celebrate a species of penguins confined to southern African waters. The African Penguin Festival at South Africa’s Simon’s Town included lectures and workshops about the African Penguin, as well as games and other activities. The event which coincided with the African Penguin Awareness Day, was followed by releasing rehabilitated penguins back into the wild. However, the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds or the SANCCOB is concerned about a decline in the species’ population. Read your free e-book: http://downloadapp.us/mebk/50/en/B000FBFH8Y/book Transitional societiesstruggling to build democratic institutions and new political traditionsare faced with a painful dilemma. How can Government become strong and effective, building a common good that unites disparate ethnic and class groups, while simultaneously nurturing democratic social rules at the grassroots? Professor Fuller brings this issue to light in the contentious, multicultural setting of Southern Africa. South Africa is not only impressive due to its size but also due to its amazing variety of fascinating scenery. Its paradise-like flora and fauna plus its historic and famous landmarks are totally captivating. Johannesburg is a modern metropolis and with around a million and a half inhabitants is the capital of Gauteng Province and the largest city in South Africa. It was founded in 1886 when gold was first discovered at Witwater Beach. Although European influence is obvious in South Africa the first inhabitants of this fascinating country were of course the various indigenous people of Africa and the village of Lesedi around twenty five kilometres south of Johannesburg provides many insights into ancient Africa’s traditions and dances. Lesedi contains four tiny villages that are inhabi...
Scientist and researcher Michael Tellinger discussed archaeological and genetic evidence in support of Zecharia Sitchin's work showing that the Anunnaki created humans through genetic experimentation to serve as slaves for gold mining. Tellinger spoke of a "vast vanished civilization" in Africa-- there are ancient circular structures that cover large parts of the southern half of Africa. These stone ruins, which number in the millions, are associated with the Annunaki, and gold mining operations, he contended. Further, the structures are linked by mysterious channels and roads-- not a single stone structure is unconnected, and they have no doors or entrances, so they were not used as dwellings, he said, adding that he believes an advanced technology using sound frequency was involved with ...
