In this episode we travel to Derbyshire to night fish a water just outside Chapel-en-le-Firth, Combs Reservoir. The venue reminded me of Carp fishing in Spain and at the time of visiting it was FREE to fish. This venue is well worth a visit just for the views alone. right at the end of the 24 hour session, Ash and also Jordon get ripping runs to land a couple of nice 18lb Mirror's, great ending to a night to remember. We also see Jon's fish that he caught the week before and we chat to new member Ash about his trip to France and show some nice big 40lb lumps that he had. Manchester City Council operate this little known dive site. Debdale is an excellent dive site right in the middle of Manchester! This site is fantastic, thousands of fish, 4-8m visibility, 8m deep, ideal for beginners. It's on a main route into Manchester with great parking and modern on site facilities. Manchester tax payers fund this dive site.
We have dived every inland open water dive site in England, WE HAVE NEVER SEEN FISH LIFE LIKE THIS ANYWHERE ELSE!! THOUSANDS OF FISH!! Check the video at 6 mins 40 secs.
Unfortunately the site is only open to dive clubs. You can only dive there if your club pays an annual subscription of £195 and books a week in advance to dive!! Individuals cannot turn up on the day and dive paying a day fee. This system is so oppressive that nobody uses the site!
Manchester divers spend £££££'s every year travelling to Capernwray, Eccleston Delph etc when a fantastic facility is on the doorstep. Imagine if this place implemented pay per day diving and opened until 9pm in summer - leave work, pop over to Debdale and have a bubble any day of the week! Bliss!
We think Debdale should implement pay per day diving for individuals, just like every other inland dive site. We as tax payers fund this place, we should demand how this service is run. If you agree with us let them know!

UPDATE 3/1/2014
Due to the way Debdale is managed and operated by Manchester Council it is now closed for half the year! Appalling for a service we pay for. Change this from a sailing centre for the elite into a Dive Centre and facility for all. Use Debdale or lose it.

Audenshaw is a town in Tameside, Greater Manchester, England, on the River Tame 1.8 miles (2.9 km) south-west of Ashton-under-Lyne and 4.9 miles (7.9 km) east of Manchester. In 2001, Audenshaw had a population of 13,000. By the 2011 Census the population had decreased to 11,419.
The name Audenshaw derives from Aldwin, a Saxon personal name, and the Old English suffix shagh meaning woodland. Nico Ditch, an early-medieval linear earthwork possibly built as a defensive barrier against Vikings, runs through the area. During the Middle Ages, Audenshaw was a division of the township of Ashton, in the county of Lancashire. Audenshaw's urbanisation and expansion largely coincided with developments in textile manufacture during the Industrial Revolution and the Victorian era. In the 1870s, many of Audenshaw's inhabitants were employed in hat-making, cotton-spinning, calico-printing, and silk-weaving. In 1894, the area became Audenshaw Urban District in the poor law union of Ashton-under-Lyne. In 1974, it became part of the Metropolitan Borough of Tameside.

In this episode we travel to Derbyshire to night fish a water just outside Chapel-en-le-Firth, Combs Reservoir. The venue reminded me of Carp fishing in Spain and at the time of visiting it was FREE to fish. This venue is well worth a visit just for the views alone. right at the end of the 24 hour session, Ash and also Jordon get ripping runs to land a couple of nice 18lb Mirror's, great ending to a night to remember. We also see Jon's fish that he caught the week before and we chat to new member Ash about his trip to France and show some nice big 40lb lumps that he had. Manchester City Council operate this little known dive site. Debdale is an excellent dive site right in the middle of Manchester! This site is fantastic, thousands of fish, 4-8m visibility, 8m deep, ideal for beginners. It's on a main route into Manchester with great parking and modern on site facilities. Manchester tax payers fund this dive site.
We have dived every inland open water dive site in England, WE HAVE NEVER SEEN FISH LIFE LIKE THIS ANYWHERE ELSE!! THOUSANDS OF FISH!! Check the video at 6 mins 40 secs.
Unfortunately the site is only open to dive clubs. You can only dive there if your club pays an annual subscription of £195 and books a week in advance to dive!! Individuals cannot turn up on the day and dive paying a day fee. This system is so oppressive that nobody uses the site!
Manchester divers spend £££££'s every year travelling to Capernwray, Eccleston Delph etc when a fantastic facility is on the doorstep. Imagine if this place implemented pay per day diving and opened until 9pm in summer - leave work, pop over to Debdale and have a bubble any day of the week! Bliss!
We think Debdale should implement pay per day diving for individuals, just like every other inland dive site. We as tax payers fund this place, we should demand how this service is run. If you agree with us let them know!
