A man will face court on Wednesday charged with murder, following the death of a woman who was allegedly struck with a brick and had her throat slashed in Balga on Monday night.

She had been taken to hospital in a critical condition after being treated by paramedics at the scene.

According to The West Australian, a previous disturbance at the property resulted in damage to property and Ms Walls had visited to help the tenant, a friend of hers, to clean up.

Nine News Perth reporter Hannah Sinclair said the Perth mother had just called triple-0 and was trying to escape when she was attacked by a man allegedly in a meth-fuelled rage.

The homeowner said the attacker had recently been released from prison and was staying with him.

"He says Jasmine Walls was an innocent visitor in the wrong place, at the wrong time," Ms Sinclair reported.

"In the hours prior to the attack, the man [allegedly] went on a destructive rampage throughout the house, armed with a kitchen knife, he slashed up furniture and smashed windows."

The charged man, a 28-year-old Balga resident, will appear in Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

He has been charged with murder, assault of a public officer and obstructing public officers.
