Plot: In a flashback, Ernesto, a young con man, tells us how he got to the edge of a big score: childhood in an orphanage, youthful smash-and-grab burglaries until his partner is caught, then tutelage from Lefty, an aging swindler. Plot: After divorce and the death of her two children, Mitch is headed for Oaxaca with her brother Sam, a photographer. During their one-day layover in Mexico City, Sam goes out for a night on the town and doesn't return. Mitch goes for help to the American embassy and starts her own search with the aid of Pedro, a cabbie. She finds the cantina where Sam was drinking and stands up to a gang leader to learn some of what happened that night. He gives her Sam's camera, and the photos on the last roll of film become the object of a hunt by some very determined criminals. Can Mitch find Sam, learn what he saw that night, and stay safe? Plot: Nel 1922 Antonio La Quaglia vince il concorso per 850 posti di capostazione arrivando all'ottocentocinquantesimo posto e la sua destinazione è Piovarolo, un piccolo paese dove non succede mai niente e ferma solo un accelerato al giorno. Ma Antonio è deciso a fare carriera e le prova tutte per farsi promuovere. Poi c'è l'avvento del Fascismo e Antonio è sempre a Piovarolo. Con la tassa sul celibato si sposa con la maestra del paese, Sara. Ma il sospirato trasferimento non arriva. Scoppia la guerra e il fascismo cade. Antonio ha una figlia, Mariuccia, ormai grande, ma si trova sempre lì, a Piovarolo. Poi sembra arrivare la grande occasione: una frana sui binari costringe a fermarsi proprio a Piovarolo il treno su cui viaggia il ministro dei trasporti.
