The Wall is the eleventh studio album by the English progressive rock band Pink Floyd. It is the last studio album released with the classic lineup of guitarist David Gilmour, bassist/lyricist Roger Waters, keyboardist Richard Wright and drummer Nick Mason before Wright left the band. Released as a double album on 30 November 1979, it was supported by a tour with elaborate theatrical effects, and adapted into a 1982 feature film, Pink Floyd – The Wall. The album features the band's only number one single; "Another Brick in the Wall Part 2".
As with Pink Floyd's previous three albums, The Wall is a concept album and explores themes of abandonment and personal isolation. The album is a rock opera that follows Pink, a character whom Waters modelled after himself and the band's original leader, Syd Barrett. Pink's life begins with the loss of his father during the Second World War and continues with abuse from his schoolteachers, an overprotective mother, and the breakdown of his marriage; all contribute to his eventual self-imposed isolation from society, represented by a metaphorical wall. Waters conceived the album during Pink Floyd's 1977 In the Flesh Tour, when his frustration with the audience became so acute that he imagined a wall between the audience and the stage.
The Wall (German: Die Wand) is a 1963 novel by Austrian writer Marlen Haushofer. Considered the author's finest work, The Wall received the Arthur Schnitzler Prize in 1963 and is an example of dystopian fiction. The English translation by Shaun Whiteside was published by Cleis Press in 1990.
The novel's main character is a forty-something woman whose name the reader never learns. She tries to survive a cataclysmic event: while vacationing in a hunting lodge in the Austrian mountains, a transparent wall has been placed that closes her off from the outside world; all life outside the wall appears to have died, possibly in a nuclear event. With a dog, a cow, and a cat as her sole companions, she struggles to survive and to come to terms with the situation. Facing fear and loneliness, she writes an account of her isolation, without knowing whether anyone will ever read it.
The novel was composed four times over in longhand between 1960 and 1963, but had to wait until 1968, two years before Haushofer's death, to be printed. In a letter written to a friend in 1961, Marlen describes the difficulty with its composition:

Growing Up... is a series that airs on Animal Planet, a cable and satellite television network co-owned by Discovery Communications, Inc. and BBC Worldwide. Each episode is an hour long and follows the life (usually the first year) of a wild animal growing up in captivity.
The show has always featured mammals as the animal or animals being taken care of. The episodes typically include one animal, two or more animals from the same litter, or two or more animals taken care of at the same facility that were either born in captivity or rescued from the wild. The animals that have been born in captivity either stay in their current facility or are moved to another facility while the animals that are rescued may or may not be released back into the wild.
The first episode to air was Growing Up Grizzly, which aired as a TV movie in 2001, co-starring Bart the Bear 2 (then known as "Little Bart") and hosted by Brad Pitt. Growing Up Lion then aired in 2003. The program became a regular series starting in May 2004, when the rest of the episodes began to air on a weekly basis.
Growing Up Live is a concert film by Hamish Hamilton and Peter Gabriel. It features a live performance from Gabriel's 2003 "Growing Up" tour. The concert is notable for its dynamic set design by Robert Lepage. Also of note is the addition of Melanie Gabriel, his daughter, for backing vocals in this concert footage. Bonus features include Tony Levin's photo album selections and an interview with Peter Gabriel about the story of Growing Up.
All songs are written by Peter Gabriel.
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are an American hip hop duo formed in 2008, from Seattle, Washington. The duo is composed of Ben Haggerty, a rapper who goes by the name of Macklemore, and Ryan Lewis, a record producer, DJ, and professional photographer, who met the former at a photo shoot and they have significantly collaborated ever since. In 2009, they released their first collaborative effort, an EP titled VS. EP. They have since followed up with VS. Redux (2010) and the Grammy Award-winning album The Heist (2012).
Macklemore and Lewis' single "Thrift Shop" reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 2013. The single was premiered on commercial radio by radio personality Jay Postal on September 2, 2012, and was soon dubbed the first song since 1994 to top the Hot 100 chart without the support of a major record label by Billboard, although Macklemore, in a slightly unusual recording contract, pays a nominal percentage of sales to use Warner Bros. Records’ radio promotion department to push his singles. Their second single, "Can't Hold Us" also peaked at number one of the Hot 100 Chart, making Macklemore and Lewis the first duo in the chart's history to have their first two singles both reach the peak position. Macklemore and Lewis released their debut studio album The Heist on October 9, 2012, which charted at number 2 on the US Billboard 200. The pair won four Grammy Awards at the 2014 ceremony, including Best New Artist, Best Rap Album (The Heist), Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance ("Thrift Shop").

You don't have to launch your missile to break down my defense
You don't need to find a jet to end our arguments
We don't have to be like everyone to use our common sense
So I guess it's time we burned the documents
'Cause you're crazy I'm crazy and there ain't a thing to lose
Except our pride at suicide of all we've ever knew
And somewhere is where east and west and the wall is coming down
Some times we celebrate other times we say what have we done
And I feel you're holding on and I'm holding on too
But no matter what we say or do the wall is coming down
The wall is coming down
Down
I see you come around
'Cause the wall is coming down
I don't have to build a fortress to hide what you can't see
I don't have to be the master and hold on to the key
Sometimes I feel so certain that we were meant to be
But I guess it's fine if you disagree
'Cause I'm crazy and you're crazy and there ain't a thing to lose
Except our pride at suicide of all we've ever knew
And somewhere is where east and west and the wall is coming down
Some times we celebrate other times we say what have we done
And I feel you're holding on and I'm holding on too
But no matter what we say or do the wall is coming down
The wall is coming down
Down
I see you come around
'Cause the wall is coming down
So whenever we turn the wheel peace talking make a deal
You remind me of palace time and I feel so Israel
Look at all the walls I've built and look at all the guards you've killed
And if the gates would open would it be more loving
Or would all my fears turn real
So for now I suppress your demonstration and I undress you here's the question
This love making a masturbation if every touch feels like instigation
I'm so sure if we all trusted the force of love
Even if our past is awful also break our pride in the torso
Whatever it takes for down these walls go
And somewhere is where east and west and the wall is coming down
Some times we celebrate other times we say what have we done
And I feel you're holding on and I'm holding on too
But no matter what we say or do the wall is coming down
The wall is coming down
Down
I see you come around
