First time in making this sweet and it was with out a doubt very time comsuming but well worth the trouble and if you make it please make it the day before it really needs to absorb all these lovely flavours overnight and it cuts better the next day l will make again had no trouble with anything in the recipe the other review was unkind and blamed the recipe when it was her ability have another go you will find it easier and your guests will rave about the taste and presentation....

Can someone please tell me the trick when making the butter cream?? I either cook the egg when adding the sugar syrup or its to running. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Its not too hard, just make it as they say, did you make sure the sugar syrup was thick and sticky? Mine was fine. i found with this recepie, it is 100% easier if "everything" is ready to roll (the ingredients). pre measure and have in bowls etc. Doing mine again for Easter.

footnote... don't add the milk to the Ganache, it's too runny. BVut do add a small amount of milk or cream to the melted chocolate so it will spread onto the top with ease, but firm up when cooled.

This is brilliant. You need to have it all ready, but well worth the result. Trim the edges square before serving, it's a show stopper. Perferc for that special occasion.

Question: In the cake mix the ingredients list melted chocolate, but there is not mention as to when the chocolate should be added to the mix which is a bit confusing - could this be clarified in the recipe methodology - thanks

Hello purljohn, The melted chocolate is added to the top of the cake in step 6. Regards, admin
