It's that time of year again. Halloween hauntings and spookery. It seems fitting time to drop this into the blog mix. In the early nineties, Finitribe stepped away from the Wax Trax! minded idea of 12 inch releases and went head on into the world of rave/techno/trance culture. What an incredible release this was! I used to play this every night I went out in '91...that was a lot. I also included it on a few of my good friends mix tapes. My go to (and nearly wore it out) was Andy Weatherall's 'Sonic Shuffle Mix'. All recordings and art are from my release. Feel free to explore the Discogs  page for further info. Promised you a mass of Simple Minds this Friday, actually I didn't. I've been working on putting this one together for a while now. All the versions and bonus tracks too. All the art is from my releases. All the tracks are from the remastered 2012 (5) CD Box Set and the 2016 'New Gold Dream' Box Set. I just gathered them all here. I was frustrated seeing the 12 inch posted all over the blog world in differently recorded fashions. Here you can have the lot of it in it's remastered form along with quality art, all in one fail swoop. On a side note, the acoustic version has not been released yet. It was a direct recording from the youtube video, albeit amplified and edited for a proper track. I hope you don't get tired of just 'one' song and all the versions...lol! I still enjoy it and hope you do as well. Happy Friday all!

Just dropping one of the many releases I have been working on. A fine 12 inch from Nitzer Ebb on Mute records from 1989. All remixes are courtesy of William Orbit. I recorded this in 24 bit WAV, as I do most vinyl releases, so it's a large file. All the artwork is from the original twelve inch, which was elaborately re-worked in photoshop to bring out the secondary print graphics. Here's more information regarding the release. I think that you will find my artwork to be far more superior. Thanks again everyone! Enjoy!

Random ZYX Records post for the day. Over the course of thirty years and some 3,000+ releases, ZYX has covered a multitude of artists and music styles. My favorite time frame was the late eighties and early nineties releases. The mid nineties was a falling out period, well, at least for me. The collaboration that formed Scrot had a total of three releases. This was their second release. I never heard this played at the local clubs I used to go to, but it was a big success in Germany and other European cities. I was introduced to this on a local college radio station (way back then)! Thank you to Tom Crawford and his Monday night 5-7:30 show on the mighty 91.7 WMSE. Thanks to KY for the record choices! :) All art and recordings are directly from this original release. Enjoy!

Here is the import CD I was speaking of previously. Yes, I bought (2) and received (1). C'est La Vie! Infacted Records has done a superb job on these classic remastered reissues. Getting back on track here from several weeks ago. I've had this post ready for sometime. The first release by Robotiko Rejekto! Two mixes, both recorded from the vinyl! My plan was to purchase the larger 'Umsturz Jetzt' remaster CD and then just add them to the post. I did order it...it never came. So I ordered another and while waiting for that to arrive, this 12 inch sold on Discogs. At that point, I decided to record it and get all the scans done proper. I'll post the 'Umsturz Jetzt' compilation a bit later on. Here is the original with the spoken introductions. Not that I'm too critical, but I am sometimes, I find the recording fine, but you can tell the vinyl has been played out a bit. It still sounds good, but I can here dropped beats and bass in parts. The CD remaster is awesome (IMO), but I also know many of you prefer the vinyl recordings. Either way...Enjoy and thanks for the patience!

A quick request for a desperate viewer/reader/blog friend! A while back I began to post the now infamous UK Volume Series that began back in 1990. This release is from the same group, just taking another direction in music that was sweeping over rave chill-rooms everywhere. This 2 CD set came out between the release of UK Vol. 7 and UK Vol. 8. It's a who's who of classic and upcoming new artists with skills that make you get all 'Soma' like. I really don't need to explain much more, but if you weren't raving at that time, you probably missed out on some of the most brilliant ambient tracks of the time. Here is more information regarding the release. All recordings & art are from my compilation. The tray art is a bit messed up due to my 'folded' copy, but I tried to even it out...sort of. V/A - The Enigma Variations (Double LP / 1985)

I've been wanting to post this one for sometime. What can I say about this release? An incredible cross section of artists from the now long gone Southern California 'Enigma' label. This was before the label went on to represent the hair metal band Poison and a bunch of other 'good' odd ducks. Each record side represents several groups with similar musical backgrounds. I bought this in 1986 and immediately let it play continually. Side four was a particular favorite. So, whatever your musical tastes, I'm certain you will find something on this compilation to prize. All art is from my release. The recordings are taken from the CD version of the same name, except  six tracks that I recorded from the vinyl as they were not included on the disc version. I recently ordered the Damned's 'Phantasmagoria' and I re-ordered 'Anything' as well. Both were remastered and expanded in 2009. Not sure why I sold my original 2009 disc. Oh well. Either way, I was going through my diminished Damned 12 inch collection and realized I needed the upgraded discs to compensate for vinyl I once had! A good collection is the MCA release 'A Sides' and 'B Sides', but the quality of the recordings on the discs is for beginners only. 

The mid-80's was the time I discovered/danced/enjoyed the band. It wasn't until after this time frame that I would begin to understand the depth and background of their full catalogue. This is one of the twelve inches I still have. Here's more Info  on the release. I've included a bunch of bonus mixes as well. A few are from the 2009 Remaster of 'Anything' and the 'No Sleep...' remix was taken from YouTube and then cleaned up and tweaked a bit (not my original recording). I didn't really have plans to post this one, but given that I just sold it on Discogs and only bought it 3 weeks ago, forced me to make some scans and recordings before I ship it. I paid $1 for it and sold it for $3. Not a big profit, but it's shipping with six other records. Now I share it with you! As you can see the back and front covers are nearly the same except for the WEA logo. The recordings have been taken from remastered recordings I already own, basically the Blank & Jones 'So80's Alphaville' release. All the art is from my original twelve inch. Dropping a few Paul Haig 12 inches into the mix. This track is actually the first song I had ever heard by him. I have to thank my friend Robert for the Wolfram video collection he had back in 1988 / 1989. It was on one of those VHS tapes that this track appeared. Following that, it appeared on a lot of my mix tapes I had made. This is the 7+ minute version as opposed to the 3:49 album version from 'The Warp Of Pure Fun' The instrumental is just that but with added guitar work. 'Ghost Ride' takes a 180 turn on the electronic idea and goes for a full on western cow-punk craze. OK...stay tuned for another lovely track from Mr. Haig soon! Enjoy!

Another fine record from the 4 A.D. label! Frazier Chorus and Tim Freeman were outstanding in the late 80's. I quite honestly have been wanting to include this on my blog ever since I started it six years ago. I have a mint copy of this in my 4 A.D. record collection...and I have one up on Discogs as well. All the tracks on here are alternative versions of the ones included on the 'Sue' release, so it's a worthy download for you fans out there. All the recording and art are from my twelve inch. Enjoy!
