New Territory, Texas
New Territory is a census-designated place (CDP) and master-planned community within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of Sugar Land in Fort Bend County, Texas, United States. The population was 15,186 at the 2010 census.
History
New Territory opened in 1989. The City of Sugar Land plans to annex New Territory in 2017.
Geography
New Territory is located at 29°35′41″N 95°40′39″W / 29.59472°N 95.67750°W / 29.59472; -95.67750 (29.594657, -95.677561).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 5.1 square miles (13 km2), of which, 5.1 square miles (13 km2) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.10 km2) of it (0.79%) is water.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 13,861 people, 3,708 households, and 3,422 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 2,746.1 people per square mile (1,059.8/km²). There were 3,805 housing units at an average density of 753.8/sq mi (290.9/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 57.56% White, 10.02% African American, 0.22% Native American, 26.07% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 3.14% from other races, and 2.94% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 8.35% of the population.
