Oslo vokser i rekordfart. Flere folk betyr mer trafikk. I årene fremover vil antall mennesker som skal til Bygdøy øke kraftig.
For at Oslo skal være en god by å leve i, må flere gå, sykle og reise kollektivt. Smale fortau, ingen sykkelvei og trafikkfarlige kryss gjør det nødvendig å bygge om hovedveien på Bygdøy.
INNHOLD
Det bygges nytt fortau, separat sykkelvei og trafikksikre kryss med bedre siktforhold. Kongsgårdsalleen forsterkes av 24 nye, friske trær. Salamanderne får en egen passasje under veien.
GJENNOMFØRING
Bygdøy har et sårbart og verneverdig kulturlandskap. Ombyggingen gjøres derfor så skånsomt som mulig. Inngrepene holdes på et minimumsnivå. Flere steder gjøres veibanen smalere enn i dag. Det samlede inngrepet er redusert med flere tusen kvadratmeter i forhold til reguleringsplanen.

Norsk Folkemuseum er Norges største kulturhistoriske museum, og det eneste som har landsdekkende samlinger fra tiden 1500 til i dag. Med store samlinger fra by- og bygdemiljø presenterer museet kulturforhold i et historisk perspektiv så vel som i dagens samfunn. Museet ligger på Bygdøy i Oslo og omfatter både et friluftsmuseum og store innendørs utstillinger. Museet har et rikholdig aktivitetsprogram og skiftende utstillinger. Årlig besøker rundt 250.000 personer museet.

Bygdøy
Bygdøy or Bygdø is a peninsula on the western side of Oslo, Norway. Administratively, Bygdøy belongs to the borough of Frogner.
Bygdøy has five museums, which are the Kon-Tiki Museum, which houses exhibits from the expeditions of Thor Heyerdahl; the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History (Norsk Folkemuseum); the Viking Ship Museum; the Norwegian Maritime Museum and the ship Fram, used by Roald Amundsen. Bygdøy Royal Estate, the official summer residence of the King of Norway and Oscarshall Castle are also located here.
Bygdøy has parks and forests, and beaches including the Huk ordinary and nudist beach. In 1885 there were only 111 houses at Bygdøy, but today most of the huge gardens have been and are being split into smaller patches of land, making Bygdøy largely a residential zone while retaining a profile of upscale demographics. However, large parts of the area such as The King's Forest and the Bygdøy Royal Estate are protected from development.
In the aftermath of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, a memorial for the victims of the catastrophe was initiated by the Norwegian government. The memorial is located on the western shore of Bygdøy and was officially unveiled by HM King Harald V on 19 October 2007.

For our first day in Oslo we decided to check out the Viking Ship Museum on the peninsula of Bygdøy (Vikingskipshuset på Bygdøy). A very cool place with some amazing artifacts and relics. Top Sightseeing locations to visit in Oslo, Norway. Including Downtown Oslo, The Royal Castle, museums, Vigelandsparken, Holmenkollen, and more.

The Oslo Opera:
Do this one! The opera building is adjacent to the central station, and it's awesome. It's architecture is like walking on an iceberg, and it overlooks the Oslo fjord and Akershus Castle. Doesn't take much time.
Karl Johans gate:
The main walking street that connects Central Station (Oslo S) with the Royal Castle. I guess it's a must when you come to Oslo. You can't avoid it, and you shouldn't! Because it's the main street of Oslo. But Karl Johan is mostly for the tourists, beggars, scammers. People that live in Oslo, like me, hardly ever go there.
Royal Castle:
It's quite small compared to other royal castles because Norway was a poor country when it was built. But it's still a nice place to walk through on your way to Bogstadveien or to spend half an hour.
Akershus Castle:
This is a nice medieval castle at the center of Oslo, overlooking the Oslo fjord, and Aker brygge. Very nice for sunsets, and after a day in Oslo sentrum or Aker Brygge. There is also a free military museum and a cheap WWII resistance museum here.
Aker Brygge:
These are the Oslo docks which have been redeveloped into a posh private restaurant/bar/shopping area. Nice for a walk, and plenty of places to sit down and watch people or the magnificent view of Akershus Castle. There's also a modern art museum here if that's your thing. If you do go to the modern art museum, be sure go all the way to the top terrace, where you find an even better view of Aker Brygge, the fjord and Akershus Castle.
Museum Island/Peninsula (Bygdøy):
This is where most of the museums are, including the Viking Ship Museum, Kon Tiki, Maritime Museum, Folk Museum. But be aware that it takes a day, and it's quite a detour, there's not much else to do there. If I had to pick one, I would do the Viking Ship museum and maybe the adjacent Folk Museum.
Vigelandsparken/Frognerparken:
This sculpture park is very good, and very large. During summer this is a continuous party/BBQ, but in wintertime you will find mostly joggers and dog walkers. Do this park if naked stone people are your thing. Pro tip: The Oslo City museum is in the park, and its FREE!
Holmenkollen/Frognerseteren:
Holmenkollen is a giant ski-jump on a mountain overlooking Oslo. There is also the ski-museum and ski-stuff around here. Metro line 1 runs all the way to Frognerseteren and there is a cafe/restaurant close to the wilderness where you can overlook Oslo.
Ekebergåsen:
This is a lookout point close to Oslo, overlooking the city. If you are thinking of going to Frognerseteren for the view only, you should go here instead. Much closer to the city, so you get a better view and travel time is less, this is a nice spot to watch the sunset.
Some Pro Tips:
If you want to see "the fjord" for cheap, go to the beginning of Aker Brygge, and take the ferry (B10) to Nesodden and back again (don't get of). You will have a great view of Akershus Castle, Aker Brygge, numerous islands and the fjord.
The "RuterReise" app for live public transportation time tables or planning, or just use Google maps, there's another "RuterBillett" app for purchasing tickets with a credit card on your phone, but I think it's only in Norwegian. Then there is the https://ruter.no/en/ website for trip planning.
Uber app, works quite well, and is half price of normal taxi

the Vigeland Park which lies in Frogner, one of
Oslo's more expensive areas to live.
The Vigeland Park came to be when the City of Oslo
Norway commissioned the Sculpture Artist Gustav Vigeland to
to build the park. And In so doing Oslo got the
largest Sculpture arrangement dedicated to one artist in

Operating on similar lines to the city passes available in the other Scandinavian capitals, the Oslo Pass is good value for tourists. As well as free admission to over 30 museums, the pass offers unlimited local travel on all forms of transport (including the ferries plying the waters between the city and the islands of the Oslofjord), free entrance to Tøyenbadet and Frognerbadet swimming pools and free parking in the municipal car parks. It also gives price reductions on sightseeing trips and numerous other discounts, including for cinemas, restaurants, car hire and souvenir shops. You can buy cards for one, two or three days (concessions are available) at the tourist information office, hotels, Narvesen newsagents and various other outlets.
Akershus Slott and Festning (Akerhus Palace and Fortress)
King Haakon V Magnusson ordered the building of Akershus Slott, in 1299. Although damaged, repaired, fortified and renovated over the centuries, the ancient walls and central medieval tower of this imposing fortified palace still dominate the seafront. The town was rebuilt within the fortress walls after the great fire of 1624. The 17th-century renovations of the castle, with magnificent banqueting halls and reception rooms, stand above dank medieval dungeons and underground passageways. The grounds also house the Norges Hjemmefrontsmuseum (Resistance Museum), with its poignant exhibits dating from the Nazi occupation of Norway.
Opening Times: Mon-Sat 1000-1600, Sun 1230-1600 (May-Aug); Sat-Sun 1200-1700, Mon-Fri closed (Sep-Dec). Guided tours of the Festning are available daily (Jun-Aug).

Next to the wonderful Vigeland Sculpture Park, the open-air swimming pool complex of Frognerbadet is one of the most popular summer spots in the city. With three open-air pools, including a diving pool, water slides and separate adult and children sections, the entire city seems to pack into the complex at weekends, although many Norwegians make the most of the glorious summer days, with everyone from families to groups of friends converging on the pools every single day of the week. The weekend often sees long queues so a morning visit is recommended. Frognerbadet is well equipped with changing rooms, toilets and a cafeteria.
