Jože Zupan (1954), športni pedagog na osnovni šoli Laško, je širšemu krogu ljudi poznan predvsem kot alpinist, ki je bil v navezi s Frančkom Knezom močan navdih mladim generacijam od druge polovice 70. let naprej, saj sta s soplezalcem s svojim drznim in pogumnim pristopom zaorala pot v ekstremni alpinizem.

Prešernovanje v Dobrniču
Dobrnič, 8.2.2008, 14:00
Tudi letos v Kulturno turističnem društvu Dobrnič nismo pozabili proslaviti kulturnega dne, ki so ga s svojimi prispevki oblikovali številni domačini. Z igro o Povodnem možu in zali Uršiki ter z recitacijami so se predstavili učenci Podružnične šole Dobrnič. Na prireditvi so s glasbenimi vložki sodelovali tudi Ženski pevski zbor KTD Dobrnič pod vodstvom Mateje Glivar ter Matjaž Glavan ob spremljavi Toneta Perparja. Prireditev, ki jo je vodila Veronika Femc je s svojim govorom zaznamoval prof. Jože Zupan iz Šentruperta, ki je izpostavil številne velike posameznike, ki so izšli iz Dolenjske (Primož Trubar). Še posebno je osvetlil malo poznane in neprepoznane kulturnike in akademike, ki so izšli iz Dobrniča in njegove širše okolice. Opozoril je, da moramo biti ponosni in širiti vedenje in zavedanje o velikih imenih malih krajev. Izpostavil je misionarja in škofa v Severni Ameriki Friderika Ireneja Barago rojenega v Mali vasi in škofa dr. Alojzija Šuštarja iz Grmade, ki sta bila oba krščena v Dobrniču. Nadaljeval je z v Dobrniču rojenima duhovnikoma Francetom Perparjem in Alozijem Ignacijem Kastigarjem, ki je deloval v Severni Ameriki. V Dobrniču se je rodil tudi skladatelj Srečko Koporc, njegov sin Leon Koporc pa je bil priznan slikar in ilustrator. Na Gorenjem Vrhu pri Dobrniču se rodil narodni heroj Jože Slak Silvo in jezikoslovec dr. France Novak preučevalec Trubarjevega jezika. Veliko je za Dobrnič in Suho krajini naredila tudi v Mini Peči rojena Mara Rupena Osolnik. Jože Lazar rojen v Lokvah je bil prvi slovenski algolog. Dr. Marija Perpar iz Korit je bila znana starosta slovenske kemije. V Podliscu pri Dobrniču je bil rojen tudi tihi poet Severin Šali. Dobrnič je kot učitelj zaznamoval tudi ilustrator Lucijan Reščič. Iz Zagorice pri Dobrniču izhaja tudi duhovnik dr. Jože Gole, ki je dolga leta poučeval v ZDA. V Šmavru se je rodila gledališka in filmska igralka Iva Zupančič nosilka Borštnikovega prstana. Ob koncu je izrekel še poklon učiteljem in vsem, ki se zavzemajo za ohranitev šole v Dobrniču, ki uspešno prenaša vrednote življenja na mladi rod, ki so steber kulture v prihodnosti.

Prešernovanje v Dobrniču Dobrnič, 8.2.2008, 14:00 Tudi letos v Kulturno turističnem društvu Dobrnič nismo pozabili proslaviti kulturnega dne, ki so ga s svojimi prispevki oblikovali številni domačini. Z igro o Povodnem možu in zali Uršiki ter z recitacijami so se predstavili učenci Podružnične šole Dobrnič. Na prireditvi so s glasbenimi vložki sodelovali tudi Ženski pevski zbor KTD Dobrnič pod vodstvom Mateje Glivar ter Matjaž Glavan ob spremljavi Toneta Perparja. Prireditev, ki jo je vodila Veronika Femc je s svojim govorom zaznamoval prof. Jože Zupan iz Šentruperta, ki je izpostavil številne velike posameznike, ki so izšli iz Dolenjske (Primož Trubar). Še posebno je osvetlil malo poznane in neprepoznane kulturnike in akademike, ki so izšli iz Dobrniča in njegove širše okolice. Opozoril je, da moramo biti ponosni in širiti vedenje in zavedanje o velikih imenih malih krajev. Izpostavil je misionarja in škofa v Severni Ameriki Friderika Ireneja Barago rojenega v Mali vasi in škofa dr. Alojzija Šuštarja iz Grmade, ki sta bila oba krščena v Dobrniču. Nadaljeval je z v Dobrniču rojenima duhovnikoma Francetom Perparjem in Alozijem Ignacijem Kastigarjem, ki je deloval v Severni Ameriki. V Dobrniču se je rodil tudi skladatelj Srečko Koporc, njegov sin Leon Koporc pa je bil priznan slikar in ilustrator. Na Gorenjem Vrhu pri Dobrniču se rodil narodni heroj Jože Slak Silvo in jezikoslovec dr. France Novak preučevalec Trubarjevega jezika. Veliko je za Dobrnič in Suho krajini naredila tudi v Mini Peči rojena Mara Rupena Osolnik. Jože Lazar rojen v Lokvah je bil prvi slovenski algolog. Dr. Marija Perpar iz Korit je bila znana starosta slovenske kemije. V Podliscu pri Dobrniču je bil rojen tudi tihi poet Severin Šali. Dobrnič je kot učitelj zaznamoval tudi ilustrator Lucijan Reščič. Iz Zagorice pri Dobrniču izhaja tudi duhovnik dr. Jože Gole, ki je dolga leta poučeval v ZDA. V Šmavru se je rodila gledališka in filmska igralka Iva Zupančič nosilka Borštnikovega prstana. The more that the coffee producers from the surrounding slopes prospered, the more the city blossomed bringing parks, squares, mansions and magnificent buildings, including the attractive Edificio Metalico, a building that consists entirely of prefabricated metal parts. The items were made in Belgium, shipped to Costa Rica and then welded together in 1892. A mansion which was once the personal residence of Sarah Winchester, the widow of gun magnate William Wirt Winchester. Renowned for its size, its architectural curiosities, and its lack of any master building plan.
③ Children's Discovery Museum
Ranked by Child Magazine as one of the top 10 children’s museums in the United States and ranked by the London Observer as one of the top 5 science centers in the world. Builds and displays interactive exhibits that they believe respond to children's diverse educational needs.
④ Happy Hollow Park & Zoo
A small 16-acre (6.5 ha) zoo and amusement park. Over 140 animals in the zoo. Features rides and structures for toddlers and children featuring slides, swings, ropes and climbing areas. Exhibits petting zoo with an animal barn.
⑤ Municipal Rose Garden
A rose garden. Features more than 3,500 shrubs representing 189 rose varieties. 5.5 acres in size. Once a prune orchard. On August 12, 2010 the AARS named it "America's Best Rose Garden", in the first nationwide contest of its kind.
⑥ Alum Rock Park
Founded in 1872, was the first municipal park in the U.S. state of California. The 720 acre (2.9 km2) park offers 13 miles (21 km) of trails. The valley includes a visitor center, a small museum/animal rehab facility, picnic areas, playgrounds, lawns, sand volleyball pits, mineral springs, lush plant life, woodlands, creek play opportunities, and occasional group camping.
⑦ Santa Clara Valley
The valley, named after the Spanish Mission Santa Clara, was for a time known as the Valley of Heart’s Delight for its high concentration of orchards, flowering trees, and plants. Until the 1960s it was the largest fruit production and packing region in the world with 39 canneries.
⑧ Japantown
The portion of San Jose bounded by First Street to the west, 8th Street to the east, Empire Street to the south and Taylor Street to the north. Designated as an authentic ethnic neighborhood and is home to many traditional Japanese restaurants as well. One of the last three remaining historical Japantowns in the United States.
⑨ Flea Market
The largest open-air market in the U.S. Was founded by George Bumb Sr. in March 1960. Become a California landmark with over four million visitors. Features a variety of entertainment options every weekend.
⑩ Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph
A large Roman Catholic church. The minor basilica is the cathedral for the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Jose. The basilica is named for Saint Joseph, patron saint of the universal church.

It is Slovenia’s ‘Florence’ situated between the Alps and the Balkans, the Adriatic and Lake Balaton. The Old Place, with a monument of national poet, Prešeren, is the gateway to the Old Town. With its pink marble façade, the Early Baroque Franciscan Church Of Mary dominates the square. The Dom Church Stolnica was built according to the design of Venetian, Andrea Pozzo in the 17th century. The interior of this Baroque church is quite overwhelming and with great attention to detail. Situated on the four hundred metre high Castle Hill, the Slovenian Acropolis was once inhabited by the Illyrians and Celts. The Roman watchtower later became both a strategic fortress and castle. A triumphal arch marks the entrance to the Žale Cemetery on the northeast edge of the city with a number of fine, richly decorated chapels. Here Jože Plečnik created a masterpiece that represented the transition from the world of the living, to the world of the dead. Columns flank the main path up to Tivoli Castle that was built by the Jesuits in the seventeenth century and soon became a summer residence of the bishops. Romantic lakes with water fowl and pretty flowers embellish the park, once the home of Field Marshal Radetzky. Ljubljana is a city of joie de vivre and pleasure where the Middle Ages, Baroque and Art Nouveau meet with the relaxed lifestyle of the south!
