Bluegrass Tailwinds Share my passion, a bluegrass bond, tailwinds through turbulence. . . (720P-HD) A person has to have a passion about something to keep going, especially when the years start to add up, whether it’s the sway in a haunting bluegrass melody, or the handcrafted beauty of mandolin number 59. Mostly though, it’s the place where egos fade, real friendship matters, and a common love of this music prevails. For me, this musical journey has been energizing. Bluegrass has been the vehicle – boy what a ride! Hundreds of pickers have come from the near and far corners of the world over the last twenty five years. While I do not play an instrument, my God has allowed me to bring you videos of these wonderful musical gatherings, and I am grateful for that. I am also thankful for everlasting caring relationships I have as a result of this positive music and these videos. Now, because of a combination of health concerns, I find the physical storm more than I can weather presently at my age. So, I find it necessary to curtail the production of new videos indefinitely. For anyone interested, I also plan to give away a few hundred DVD’s and CD’s of Parking Lot Jams I have recorded over the years. This will be done in the parking lot only, weather permitting. The songs are almost always “COVER SONGS.” Each “picker,” as the musicians are called, has the opportunity to name his or her chosen song to play or sing, and the rest of the group plays along. It makes for an interesting session each week since different pickers show up to play with the regulars. Consequently, some of the same old familiar standards are sung in different ways. Each picker adds his special spice. No admission is charged, and the gathering is entirely non-commercial and for the pleasure of the pickers. The Ocoee Parking Lot Bluegrass Jam is a well-established, open jam and has welcomed pickers of all skill levels for twenty-five years behind the Pizza Hut at 10870 West Colonial Drive, Ocoee, Florida 34761. The area is about 10 miles West of Orlando. People of all ages and backgrounds enjoy the Jams. It’s very much a place for families, young couples, retirees, children, pets, and tourists who make it one of their stops because they have seen the videos from many points on the globe. Weather permitting the Jam begins every Friday evening at 6:30.
