"In an outstanding piece for National Journal, reporter S.V. Dáte notes that in 1974, the real estate empire of Trump's father, Fred, was worth about $200 million. Trump is one of five siblings, making his stake at that time worth about $40 million. If someone were to invest $40 million in a S&P; 500 index in August 1974, reinvest all dividends, not cash out and have to pay capital gains, and pay nothing in investment fees, he'd wind up with about $3.4 billion come August 2015, according to Don't Quit Your Day Job's handy S&P; calculator. If one factors in dividend taxes and a fee of 0.15 percent — which is triple Vanguard's actual fee for an exchange-traded S&P; 500 fund — the total only falls to $2.3 billion.
It's hard to nail down Trump's precise net worth, but Bloomberg currently puts it at $2.9 billion, while Forbes puts it at $4 billion. So he's worth about as much as he would've been if he had taken $40 million from his dad and thrown it into an index fund.”*

How Powerful is Donald Trump
A contender to be the 2016 Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump is best known as a billionaire real estate mogul and television personality.
Synopsis
Real estate developer Donald John Trump was born in 1946, in Queens, New York. In 1971 he became involved in large, profitable building projects in Manhattan. In 1980, he opened the Grand Hyatt, which made him the city's best-known and most controversial developer. In 2004 Trump began starring in the hit NBC reality series The Apprentice, which also spawned the offshoot The Celebrity Apprentice. In 2015 Trump announced his candidacy for president of the United States and shortly after the first Republican debate became the party's frontrunner.
New York Real Estate Developer
Trump seems to have been strongly influenced by his father in his decision to make a career in real estate development, but the younger man's personal goals were much grander than those of his senior. As a student, Trump worked with his father during the summer and then joined his father's company, Elizabeth Trump & Son, after graduation from college. He was able to finance an expansion of the company's holdings by convincing his father to be more liberal in the use of loans based on the equity in the Trump apartment complexes. However, business was very competitive and profit margins were narrow.
In 1971 Donald Trump was given control of the company, which he later renamed the Trump Organization. He also moved his residence to Manhattan, where he began to make important connections with influential people. Convinced of the city's economic opportunity, Trump soon became involved in large building projects in Manhattan that would offer opportunities for earning high profits, using attractive architectural design and winning public recognition.
When the Pennsylvania Central Railroad entered bankruptcy, Trump was able to obtain an option on the railroad's yards on the West Side of Manhattan. When initial plans for apartments proved unfeasible because of the poor economic climate, Trump promoted the property as the location of a city convention center, and the city government selected it over two other sites in 1978. Trump's offer to forego a fee if the center were named after his family, however, was turned down, along with his bid to build the complex, which was ultimately named for Senator Jacob Javits.
In 1974 Trump obtained an option on one of Penn Central's hotels, the Commodore, which was unprofitable but in an excellent location adjacent to Grand Central Station. The next year he signed a partnership agreement with the Hyatt Hotel Corporation, which did not have a large downtown hotel. Trump then worked out a complex deal with the city to win a 40-year tax abatement, arranged financing and then completely renovated the building, constructing a striking new facade of reflective glass designed by architect Der Scutt. When the hotel, renamed the Grand Hyatt, opened in 1980, it was instantly popular and proved an economic success, making Donald Trump the city's best known and most controversial developer in the process.

Fred Trump
Frederick Christ "Fred" Trump (October 11, 1905 – June 25, 1999) was an American real estate developer. He was the father of businessman Donald Trump and United States Appeals Judge Maryanne Trump Barry.
Early life
Trump was born on East Tremont Avenue in the Bronx, to German immigrants Elizabeth (née Christ) and Frederick Trump. His father had emigrated to New York City in 1885 from the small German town of Kallstadt, Palatinate where he briefly returned around 1900, married, and reemigrated.
Although both of Trump's parents were born in Germany, Trump told friends and acquaintances for decades after World War II that the family was of Swedish origin. According to his nephew John Walter, "He had a lot of Jewish tenants and it wasn't a good thing to be German in those days."
Business career
In 1927, at age 22, Fred Trump went into the real estate development and construction business, forming Elizabeth Trump & Son Co. with his mother Elizabeth Christ Trump, who was an active partner, writing the checks.

Donald Trump
Donald John Trump, Sr. (born June 14, 1946) is an American businessperson and media personality. He is the chairman and president of The Trump Organization and the founder of Trump Entertainment Resorts. Trump's career, branding efforts, personal life, wealth, and outspoken manner have made him famous throughout the country. Since 2015, he is also a candidate for the Republican nomination for President of the United States in the 2016 election.
Trump is a native of New York City and a son of Fred Trump, who inspired him to enter real estate development. After two years at Fordham University and while studying at Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Trump worked for his father's firm, Elizabeth Trump & Son. Upon graduating in 1968 he joined the company, and in 1971 was given control, renaming the company "The Trump Organization". Since then he has built hotels, golf courses, and other properties, many of which bear his name. He is a major figure in the American business scene and has received prominent media exposure. The NBC reality show The Apprentice bolstered his fame, and his three marriages were extensively reported in tabloids.

Rachel Anne Maddow (
i/ˈmædoʊ/, born April 1, 1973) is an American television host, political commentator, and author. She hosts a nightly television show, The Rachel Maddow Show, on MSNBC. Her syndicated talk radio program of the same name aired on Air America Radio. Maddow is the first openly gay anchor to host a major prime-time news program in the United States. She holds a doctorate in politics from Oxford University.
Asked about her political views by the Valley Advocate, Maddow replied, "I'm undoubtedly a liberal, which means that I'm in almost total agreement with the Eisenhower-era Republican party platform."
Early life and education
Maddow was born in Castro Valley, California. Her father, Robert B. "Bob" Maddow, is a former United States Air Force captain who resigned his commission the year before her birth and found civilian work as a lawyer for the East Bay Municipal Utility District. Her mother, Elaine Maddow (née Gosse), is a school program administrator. She has one older brother, David. Her paternal grandfather was from an Eastern European Jewish family (the original family surname being "Medwedof"), while her paternal grandmother was of Dutch (Protestant) background; her mother, originally from Newfoundland, Canada, is of English and Irish ancestry. Maddow has stated that her family is "very, very Catholic," and she grew up in a community that her mother has described as "very conservative." Maddow was a competitive athlete and participated in three sports in high school: volleyball, basketball, and swimming. Referencing John Hughes films, she has described herself as being "a cross between the jock and the antisocial girl" in high school.

Synopsis
Real estate developer Donald John Trump was born in 1946, in Queens, New York. In 1971 he became involved in large, profitable building projects in Manhattan. In 1980, he opened the Grand Hyatt, which made him the city's best-known and most controversial developer. In 2004 Trump began starring in the hit NBC reality series The Apprentice, which also spawned the offshoot The Celebrity Apprentice. In 2015 Trump announced his candidacy for president of the United States and shortly after the first Republican debate became the party's frontrunner.
New York Real Estate Developer
Trump seems to have been strongly influenced by his father in his decision to make a career in real estate development, but the younger man's personal goals were much grander than those of his senior. As a student, Trump worked with his father during the summer and then joined his father's company, Elizabeth Trump & Son, after graduation from college. He was able to finance an expansion of the company's holdings by convincing his father to be more liberal in the use of loans based on the equity in the Trump apartment complexes. However, business was very competitive and profit margins were narrow.
In 1971 Donald Trump was given control of the company, which he later renamed the Trump Organization. He also moved his residence to Manhattan, where he began to make important connections with influential people. Convinced of the city's economic opportunity, Trump soon became involved in large building projects in Manhattan that would offer opportunities for earning high profits, using attractive architectural design and winning public recognition.
When the Pennsylvania Central Railroad entered bankruptcy, Trump was able to obtain an option on the railroad's yards on the West Side of Manhattan. When initial plans for apartments proved unfeasible because of the poor economic climate, Trump promoted the property as the location of a city convention center, and the city government selected it over two other sites in 1978. Trump's offer to forego a fee if the center were named after his family, however, was turned down, along with his bid to build the complex, which was ultimately named for Senator Jacob Javits.
In 1974 Trump obtained an option on one of Penn Central's hotels, the Commodore, which was unprofitable but in an excellent location adjacent to Grand Central Station. The next year he signed a partnership agreement with the Hyatt Hotel Corporation, which did not have a large downtown hotel. Trump then worked out a complex deal with the city to win a 40-year tax abatement, arranged financing and then completely renovated the building, constructing a striking new facade of reflective glass designed by architect Der Scutt. When the hotel, renamed the Grand Hyatt, opened in 1980, it was instantly popular and proved an economic success, making Donald Trump the city's best known and most controversial developer in the process.

Old Man Trump made his millions creating the postwar racial codes that have produced the racist inequality that lives to this day.

Donald idolized his father and would accompany him on business trips. As young as 5 he would inspect building sites, at 13 he drove a bulldozer for the first time. As a young kid he was assertive and energetic but a bit of a lose cannon. He punched his 2nd grade music teacher under the belief that he or she didn’t know enough about music.
His parents though it best to enroll him in a New York Military Academy under the belief that the strict structure would channel his energy into positive outlets, it worked. Donald excelled both academically and socially. He was the king of the class and a star athlete pitching for the baseball team and playing tight end on the football team. He also played soccer on a team dominated by students from Latin America, and was voted class “Ladies Man’’ by his all-male peers. While in school he drove a green Ford Fairlane Convertible and carried a briefcase.
He graduated in 1964 at the age of 18. entered Fordham University and then transferred to the Wharton School of Finance at the University of Pennsylvania.
A professor at Forham teaching Real Estate asked the class why they chose to study Real Estate and Donald spoke up – “I’m going to be the king of New York real estate”.

Donald Trump ist vor allem ein Selbstvermarktungsgenie. Er hat es geschafft, dass wirklich alle über ihn reden. Nicht nur der politische Gegner, die Demokraten der USA, auch die Auslandspresse schreibt, wenn sie über die USA berichtet, vor allem über Trump.
Was will Trump? Trump will vor allem ins Amt. Die Idee, Präsident zu werden, muss man als persönliche Schnapsidee bezeichnen, zu der es in der BRD nur eine Entsprechung gäbe - hätte sich seinerzeit z. B. Dieter Bohlen entschlossen, Bundeskanzler zu werden.
Trump begann als Baulöwe, ging Pleite und wurde parallel Star einer eigenen TV-Show. Er ist laut und spricht die Sprache der Straße. Was ihn von der politischen Konkurrenz unterscheidet ist, dass deren Berufscredo schon lebt, bevor er im Amt ist, nämlich: Was geht mich mein Geschwätz von Gestern an.
Trump erzählt den Wählern immer das, was diese dort, wo er aufschlägt, hören wollen. Dass er sich dabei ständig widersprechen muss, spielt keine Rolle. Diese Flexibilität kennen etablierte Politiker aus dem Tagesgeschäft, also vor allem, nachdem sie ins Amt gewählt wurden. Auch ein Obama hat nach der Wahl nichts von dem realisiert, für was er von vielen gewählt wurde. Im Gegenteil. Der Rüstungsetat wurde erhöht, der Drohnen-Terror ausgebaut, die Banken machen weiter, was sie wollen, und das Foltercamp Guantanamo wird munter weiter betrieben.
Während Clinton für die Demokraten in den Ring gestiegen ist, hat sich Trump selbst zum Kaiser der Republikaner und der Tea-Party-Bewegung gekrönt. Dieser Prozess begann schon 2012 und überrascht nur jene, die sich erst 2016 mit der Tea-Party beschäftigt haben. Eva C. Schweitzer gehört nicht dazu. Die deutsche Journalistin, wohnhaft in New York City, begann schon 2011, Trump und die Tea-Party zu untersuchen. 2012 erschien ihr Buch „Tea-Party - die weiße Wut“, das 2016 nur um ein Extrakapitel „Trump“ ergänzt werden musste und jetzt „Trump Party - Der weiße Wahn“ heißt. Wie ticken die Wähler von Donald Trump, und was könnte uns erwarten, wenn Trump ab dem 9. November den Obama macht?
Dass vor allem Deutschland betroffen sein wird, wenn Trump als Kopf der Tea-Party-Bewegung es ins Weiße Haus schafft, ist mehr als klar, denn wer immer in Washington ans Ruder kommt, ob Trump oder Clinton, er wird sich vor allem den wichtigsten Partner in Europa, die BRD, zur Brust nehmen, um diesem Land die eigenen außenpolitischen Pläne an die Schläfe zu halten.
