Daily Telegraph troller Annette Sharp put out to pasture

In a development that will ensure you read just as much breaking news as you always did, Daily Telegraph columnist, Annette Sharp is moving off the newspaper's Instagram and celebrity TV section, Sydney Confidential.

The one-time Nine Network publicist is being retired from these pages, ostensibly to write features. We live in hope she'll get weekly real estate in the business section for her pet stock tips...

In this case, "features" sounds a lot to us like "special projects" – the mythical place where employees in large organisations are sent when their bosses are no longer sure what to do with them. Just ask Queensland public servants parked in Kevin Rudd's "gulag" in the Wayne Goss years.

Sharp has made more than a few enemies during her tenure – and in fairness, that was her job (though so, you'd think, was breaking the odd yarn) – particularly model Jesinta Campbell, who last year copped Sharp's 13 reasons why the former Miss Universe should've postponed marrying Swans star Buddy Franklin, including because "of the rumours that simply won't quit", and Sunrise host Sam Armytage, who Sharp fat-shamed with a montage of dated pictures explicitly picked to do so.

We've sparred a few times with the social pages veteran in recent years but it was hardly a fair fight, poor petal. Question: do you congratulate someone upon their mercy retirement?
