Moves to re-establish a Pacific Planners Association

Moves to re-establish a Pacific Island Planners Association are underway, with a conference planned in Fiji this week.

With increasing urban drift, lack of housing, and pressure on water and electricity supplies, planning has arguably never been more important in the Pacific.

The Chair of the New Zealand Planning Institute, Bryce Julyan, says there had been a Pacific wide grouping of planners in the past, but it fell into abeyance and a big international effort is underway to revive it.
