Oenone Wood to join cycling Hall of Fame

Former Canberra cyclist Oenone Wood will be inducted into Cycling Australia's Hall of Fame next month.

The two-time World Cup-winning cyclist was also a dual Olympian, Commonwealth Games champion, and a five-time national champion.

Wood's success led her to the Athens Olympic Games in 2004 where she not only played an integral role in securing Sara Carrigan's gold for Australia, but also finished fourth in the road race and sixth in the time trial.

"I am very humbled to be included in the CA Hall of Fame," said Wood. "I have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to participate in cycling at the elite level and my involvement in the cycling community has certainly shaped my life."

Wood will be joined by five other inductees from a range of cycling disciplines.
