A bird trainer in Ballarat kept the horses and jockeys safe on Flemington's racecourse for the Melbourne Cup with the help of his feathered friends. 

Graeme Coles runs a company called Full Flight, that hires out birds for events such as weddings, but he is currently trialling the use of his trained birds to fly over areas populated by seagulls.

Seagulls can become cause a safety issue to horses and jockeys on a racetrack, so Mr Coles' birds were called in to scare away the seagulls, but they are trained not to attack.
