Well that was awful! Enough said. At least it wasn't too cold - 3.1 degrees apparently! So the Brumbies will host the Otago Highlanders at Canberra Stadium next Friday at 6pm. Will anyone get on the Brumbies bandwagon?
80: Brumbies have a penalty as the hooter blasts and they opt to go for a bonus point try. They giveup a penalty to the Force, who opt to try and score their last try of the season, only to cough the ball up. Thankfully it's lost forward and we can all go home. Brumbies 24-10.
78: We almost had a score! Great break by Toua, who's footwork has been fantastic tonight, but the Force scrambled back. Toomua looked to find Lausii Taliauli on the opposite wing but he knocked on when the ball bounced his way, albeit it was a tough one to control. Hopefully that ensures we have a scoreless second half, which is what it deserves really...
Assuming the scoreline remains the same, and there are no indications either team will score, then the Brumbies will have swept all the other Aussie teams this season...
70: A few concerns here for Force prop Guy Millar, who is holding the small of his back. Now it looks like he's being helped from the field.
Back to top67: Sorry about that, I just nodded off for a few kminutes, but the people around me have assured me nothing has happened. This second half is shaping as even worse than the first half of the first half...
60: Did the AFL get it wrong when they went after Israel Folau? They should've gone for Scott Fardy, who has the best kicking game of any forward in world rugby surely. He tries the chip kick there, but it's straight to the Force backline, but could be valuable practice for Fards for the finals...
58: A lovely little jink their from Toua! Then he puts the jets on and darts towards the Force 22m, but his chip kick bounces nicely for Force wing Luke Morahan and he able to kick the danger clear.
So 9387 here tonight. Is that a pass or a fail? Given the importance of tonight's game and the relatively balmy, one-jacket weather it's a fail. Yes it's the Force, yes the Brumbies are expected to win, yes it's been a fairly ordinary game, but come on Canberra...
40: And we're back. The players seemed to sneak out then, perhaps a bit embarrassed with the first half...
Back to topAround the grounds:
AFL - Bulldogs 75 Gold Coast 33; Crows 46 Collingwood 37
NRL: Rabbitohs 6 Broncos 18
Well that was a half of two halves. You could almost hear the TVs turning off in the opening 20 minutes, but the second 20 had three tries overruled and four tries scored. Brumbies fans have been given a glimpse of a couple of future players in Alcock and Godwin. Meanwhile up the Hume in Sidaknee Waratah fans are getting teased - are we a chance, no we're not, yes we are, no we're not. Hopefully it's a riveting second half, but given the first I wouldn't hold my breath...
40: You can stop him once, but not twice. Kuridrani barges over from close range after the hooter. Looks like Toomua added the extras with a drop goal! Brumbies 24-10.
38: That's disaster for the Brumbies. No it isn't, it's reverse disaster. A fantastic kick from Haylett-Petty had caught the Brumbies out, who seemed to react very slowly as Kyle Godwin, who could be a Brumby next year, charged over to score. but he's centimetres offside. You can almost hear the cursing coming from Sydney. Brumbies 17-10.
36: Penalty try! Good option from Moore as they Brumbies win the try, looking for the push over. Lealiifano will add the extras. Signs this game could turn into a shootout after a very uninspiring start. Brumbies 17-10.
Back to top35: The crowd happy with that, Moore opting for another scrum after earning a penalty with the first one just 5m out almost under the posts...
34: Or are they? Tevita Kuridrani makes a break, but is tackled by Force fullback Dane Haylett-Petty and possibly held up...yep held up. Hand rubbing may recommence in Tahland...
The NSW Waratahs players, who are no doubt reading the blog tonight at home on the team couch, will be rubbing their hands together now. They're right back in it!
31: Just when it looked like it might get ugly for the Force they're right back in it!. Toua tries to grubber it through the line, but it ricochets into the arms of centre Ban Tapuai who sprints to the line uncontested. Prior adds the extras. All square 10-all.
Smith back out there now, hopefully things are on the up now for the big fella!
