The fastest man in the world has bolted to safety after a horse kicked out at him during Oaks Day.
The horse, Eleonora, narrowly missed Usain Bolt in the mounting yard at Flemington shortly before the big race.
Photos captured by Fairfax's Justin McManus show Bolt's shocked face as he used he lightning reflexes to quickly flee to safety.
Onlookers said he let out a squeal as he jumped.
Friend and former Australian athlete John Steffensen then grabbed Bolt in a bear hug and pulled him away as the Olympian's frightened expression moved to laughter.
"We very nearly got killed," Steffensen joked afterwards.
"I was putting him in between me and the horse - I've got kids."
The pair then had a giggle as they moved out of the mounting area so not to cause anymore of a distraction.
Eleonora, who reportedly has a bit of a reputation for such behaviour, went on to come third in the Crown Oaks.
Lucky for him - and Jamaica - Bolt's golden bones survived the ordeal.
