Lucknow Junction (LJN) Swarna Shatabdi Express (Hindi: लखनऊ जंक्शन शताब्दी एक्सप्रेस) is a Shatabdi class Indian Railways train that connects the Indian capital Delhi to Lucknow, the capital of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. There are two shatabdis each from Delhi and Lucknow daily. This was the first train in India to get the new German LHB coaches. Earlier this train used to run between Kanpur Central and New Delhi non stop, a 435 km stretch. After the gauge conversion in 1993, it was extended to and also halted at Aligarh. Later on, it was also given halt at Ghaziabad and Etawah. Lucknow Swarna Shatabdi has been awarded the ISO certification. Efforts are now on to increase the speed of the Lucknow Shatabdi and bring it on par with the Agra - Delhi stretch of the Bhopal Shatabdi.
A full journey compilation on the Ajmer Shatabdi Express, covering the journey from New Delhi to Ajmer. The Ajmer Shatabdi is one of India's fastest hauled diesel trains, consistently maintaining its maximum permissible speed of 110 kmph between Ajmer and New Delhi, covering nearly 430 kilometres between Ajmer and Delhi Cantt in a little over 6 hours. We set out from New Delhi at 6 in the morning and travel through city and past the international airport, entering Haryana near Gurgaon. The Shatabdi's speedy runs starts as this point as it races towards Rewari. A number of brisk crossings occur in this stretch, including one with the Ahmedabad Rajdhani and also with a couple of WDP3A hauled passengers. Post Rewari, we meet the Ashram Mail, hauled by an Abu Road Alco for a change and ju...

The rapid pace of the Shatabdi can also be gauged from the fact that it outruns every single v...
The 12007 / 12008 Chennai Central – Mysore Shatabdi Express is most likely to be the only Shatabdi Express Train that runs with two different Type of Locomotives, i.e. Electric & Diesel during its single journey between the two destinations. The train is hauled by a Electric Locomotive between Chennai and Bangalore further switches to a Diesel Locomotive between Bangalore and Mysore as the stretch is yet to be completely electrified. It is also the first Shatabdi Express of South India flagged off back in the year 1994. What is more interesting about this Train is that it doesn't have a fixed Class of Locomotive specially for its Electric run. As seen in the video the Train is hauled by a variety of E-Locos WAM4, WAP1,WAP4 and WAP7 from Royapuram, Arakkonam and Erode Sheds. It is alwa...

Highlights from a full journey compilation on the Howrah Ranchi Shatabdi Express. Introduced in the latter half of the 1990s, the train was upgraded in November 2013 to LHB rakes. Five Kolkata rail enthusiasts, Chirag da, Souro da, Trayambak da and yours truly undertook a journey on this train on a lovely early January day to Ranchi and back. Major highlights of the journey include some wonderful high speed passage between Howrah and Dhanbad, with some rapid crossings with the New Delhi Sealdah Rajdhani Express and the perennially late Kalka Mail. There was some slow and mundane progress between Dhanbad and Chandrapura. Things brightened up on the approach to Chandrapura as we engaged in some lovely parallel action with the Gomoh Barka Kana Passener, led by a Mughal Sarai WAM4. This was pa...
