After the first Trials for the Gatiman Express were conducted way back in 2014. The Railway Board after finally conducting 7 Trials gave a green Signal to Gatiman Express on 5'th April 2016. It made a Furor amongst the Railfan community of India and every station on the New Delhi - Agra Stretch were full of RailFans Saluting the New High Speed Train Of Indian Railways. We had planned for capturing the Fastest Train of Indian Railways on 5'th April on it's Inaugural and hence I had made up my mind that we would capture the Bhopal Shatabdi First and then would capture the New Speed King - Gatiman Express. Hence, I got up at 3:30 a.m. probably the only time I get Up at that time when I have to go out for a Long RailFanning Session..........Jokes Apart I got a Call from fellow friend and RailFan Anirudh Kaushik at 4:15 a.m. to meet at NZM and I left home at 4:30 a.m. in my Car and picked up Kaushik From Sarai Kale Kha and we continued the journey forward by taking up the Yamuna Express Way. It was a Fun Joyful Ride seeing the Sun Rise in front of our eyes was a mesmerising treat to the eyes and we reached Vrindavan Road at sharp 6:45 a.m. to get ourselves the treat of watching First Mumbai Rajdhani and Bhopal Shatabdi. But it was a poor start to the day as Mumbai Rajdhani was stopped on the Main Line . Now , we were waiting and waiting and finally Chattisgarh Express came and got Looped at Vrindavan Road and we straight away knew that Bhopal Shatabdi won't be very far away and within a span of 5-7 minutes in-came the Legendary Bhopal Shatabdi tearing apart Vrindavan Road Station with a brilliant mesmerizing honking an absolute music to the ears. Now we headed towards Agra with Breakfast on our minds, we directly made a pit stop at McDonald's On our way and after having our Burgers Packed we moved ahead towards Kitham. On the way we took a short Detour and stopped at a Level Crossing and took few videos of Express Trains coming from Agra Side and Delhi Side. At 10:30 we had already reached our destination for the capture and hence decided on to wait there it self for the capture of the New Fastest Train Of Indian Railways , The Gatimaan Express. At Sharp 11:40 , The Train made it's entry in a Grand Style and all the workers who were otherwise working on the Over Bridge had stopped their work and were patiently waiting to see the new train in all it's glory and full fury. It was like Watching a Movie. It came and went like a Bullet. It was a very hot and Humid day and we finally settled for a Lunch at a Local Eatery and even a hefty lunch did not fill up our stomach and we decided to capture the Evening Encounter with The Gatimaan Express , Hence we waited inside the Restaurant till 4:30 and in the evening after Capturing Chennai Duronto , Bilaspur Rajdhani and Gondwana Express , It was again time to capture the New Speed King Of Indian Railways , The Gatimaan Express. Finally After Capturing The Evening Gatimaan Express , It was time to leave back for Delhi and our Goal of capturing Gatimaan and Bhopal was achieved. It was a long journey to reach home quick as I had to drive Back Fast and Catch the late night train Himachal Express to Una.Himachal Pradesh. Finally made it back to home tired but full of joy after having captured the fastest train of Indian Railways on It's Inaugural Run. Now Some Info On The Gatimaan Express :- Gatimaan Express is a semi high speed train that runs between Delhi and Agra in India. It operates at a speed of 160 km/h (99 mph) and is the fastest train in India. The train will take a travel time of 100 minutes to cover 188 kilometres (117 mi) journey from Hazrat Nizamuddin to Agra Cantonment railway stations. History - In October 2014, the railways applied for safety certificate from Commission of Railway Safety to start the service. In June 2015, the train was announced officially and numbered 12049/50. The train was launched on 5 April 2016 and completed its maiden journey within 100 minutes. Service - An Executive Class ticket will cost ₹1500 (US$22) and travel by AC Chair Car, will cost ₹750 (US$11).The train leaves Hazrat Nizamuddin at 8:10 am and reach Agra at 9:50 am and departs from Agra at 5:50 pm and reach Nizammudin at 7:30 pm. The train has two Executive AC Chair Car and eight AC Chair Car coaches.The train is equipped with bio-toilets, fire alarms, GPS-based passenger information system and automatic sliding doors. The train have train hostesses for service, similar to airlines and the passengers will get access to free Wi-Fi and multimedia content.
