The 'Hauz Khas' club district in South Delhi houses a mosque and a bar that back into each other and live as happy neighbours. Hauz Khas has a water tank, an Islamic seminary, a mosque, a tomb and pavilions built around an urbanized village with medieval history traced to the 13th century of Delhi Sultanate reign. It was part of Siri, the second medieval city of India of the Delhi Sultanate of Allauddin Khilji Dynasty (1296–1316). The etymology of the name Hauz Khas in Farsi is derived from the words ‘Hauz’: “water tank” (or lake) and ‘Khas’:“royal”- the “Royal tank”. The large water tank or reservoir was first built by Khilji to supply water to the inhabitants of Siri. The tank was de–silted during the reign of Firuz Shah Tughlaq (1351–88). Several buildings (Mosque and madrasa) and ...

After visiting Mongolia last Summer, we decided to explore a little further the Silk Road and picked Uzbekistan as our next destination. We didn't really know what to expect: different sources gave us different opinions and we were unsure of what it would have been like. We found a country full of architectural beauty, a lot of tradition, amazing food and colours. Still quite genuine, tourism hasn't spoiled it that much yet ... unfortunately looked like only big groups of people in their 50s/60s are willing to travel to this country. It is affordable and it is suitable for both solo travellers, women, families and, of course, groups of any age. Tashkent: it's the capital city and one of the largest cities in Central Asia. Worth a quick stop but don't spend too much time. The gardens an...
by AJAY JAIN Seasoned travellers like me also find it a challenge to plan a wildlife trip to Kenya in Africa. There are lots of variable to figure. These include: * Accommodation: Where to stay - hotels or camps? What is the right location, how much should one be spending and more. * Safari Vehicles: You can go in vans or 4x4 Landcruisers. What works for whom? * Guides: They come at different proficiency levels and you pay accordingly. Who is suitable for you? * Which company should you book with? Different companies have differing quality of vehicles, guides, walkie-talkies to inform each other about sightings etc. Picking the right one could have a big bearing on your experience. * Transportation: How do get from one park to another within Kenya? By road? Fly? I spoke to Shivang Me...

Take a tour of Old Bukhara in Uzbekistan -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats. Found in the country of Uzbekistan is the ancient and historic city of Bukhara. The city was founded over 2,500 years ago and has been undergoing restoration in recent years. Many of the old buildings in Bukhara were built over 1,000 years ago. One of the city's largest buildings is the Ark Fortress, the palace of the Emir. It houses a museum on the amazing, and sometimes bloody, history of the city. There is also the mausoleum of Ismail Samani, which dates back to the 10th century. The Char-Minar is the city's singular madrassah, but only one of many wonders here.

He not only goes for his own photography, but also takes groups for shooting and for participating in his workshops. He busts some of the myths in conversation with me on Kunzum TV - tune in to learn more. What does he cover? * Photography - For amateurs or for professionals? If you go to the Masai Mara in Kenya for example, it is a great learning ground for amateurs due to the abundance of wildlife. There is...
