Tokyo Station (東京駅, Tōkyō-eki) is a railway station in the Marunouchi business district of Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan, near the Imperial Palace grounds and the Ginza commercial district.
Served by Shinkansen high-speed rail lines, Tokyo Station is the main intercity rail terminal in Tokyo. It is the busiest station in Japan in terms of number of trains per day (over 3,000), and the fifth-busiest in Eastern Japan in terms of passenger throughput. It is also served by many regional commuter lines of Japan Railways, as well as the Tokyo Metro network.
Trains on the following lines are available at Tokyo Station:
Tokyo (東京, Tōkyō, "Eastern Capital") (Japanese: [toːkjoː], English /ˈtoʊki.oʊ/), officially Tokyo Metropolis (東京都, Tōkyō-to), is one of the 47 prefectures of Japan, and is both the capital and largest city of Japan. The Greater Tokyo Area is the most populous metropolitan area in the world. It is the seat of the Emperor of Japan and the Japanese government. Tokyo is in the Kantō region on the southeastern side of the main island Honshu and includes the Izu Islands and Ogasawara Islands. Formerly known as Edo, it has been the de facto seat of government since 1603 when Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu made the city his headquarters. It officially became the capital after Emperor Meiji moved his seat to the city from the old capital of Kyoto in 1868; at that time Edo was renamed Tokyo. Tokyo Metropolis was formed in 1943 from the merger of the former Tokyo Prefecture (東京府, Tōkyō-fu) and the city of Tokyo (東京市, Tōkyō-shi).

Large train stations in Japan often have a lot of shops and restaurants inside. Tokyo Station, the terminal of 'Shinkansen' or 'bullet trains', has 120 shops inside ticket gates and 80 outside. They make up a massive shopping and gourmet district named 'Tokyo Station City'. Their main staples are 'bento' or 'lunch boxes' which you can enjoy on a long-distance train. A good bento would make your trip more enjoyable. You might wander in the city like a huge labyrinth(*) when you go into there without a map. But at least you don't have to worry about starving or freezing to death as long as you have enough Japanese yen. They serve and sell various things you could be in need for while wandering. Of course you can also use them on a train, or after getting off the train. *Note: The challenge...

Tokyo Station & Marunouchi - 丸の内 - 4K Ultra HD Originally built in 1914, Tokyo Station, or Tokyo-Eki, is Japan busiest station in terms of number of trains per day. According to Wikipedia, over 3,000 trains pass through the station every single day. Tokyo Station also holds a special place in the hearts of Tokyo residents. Despite being over 100 years old, the main building still remains the same and is actually one of Tokyo’s architectural treasures thanks to its unique design and brick walls. Located a few hundreds meters away from the Imperial Palace and in the Marunouchi business district, Tokyo Station is worth checking by day or by night. Once done, make sure to roam around Marunouchi where you will find other gorgeous European-style red brick buildings, a whole host of trendy st...

A review of the Courtyard Tokyo Station Hotel in Tokyo Japan. Highlights include the Courtyard Tokyo Station common areas, the Tokyo Station Neighborhood, and the inside of a Twin Corner Room. Click here to subscribe for new travel videos every Sunday! http://bit.ly/yellowwsub The Courtyard Tokyo Station is located about a 7-10 minute walk from the “Yaeusu South” exit of Tokyo Station. The Yaeusu side is very convenient to the Shinkansen lines, as the Shinkansen tracks are essentially right above the Yaeusu entrance. The proximity to the Shinkansen makes this a great hotel to use as a base with the JR pass. Just note that Tokyo Station is very big — and if you’re coming from the Narita Express, you’ll add another 15 minutes of walking through the station to get to the Yaeusu exit. I...
