Click here to subscribe for new travel videos every Sunday! http://bit.ly/yellowwsub The Courtyard Tokyo Station is located about a 7-10 minute walk from the “Yaeusu South” exit of Tokyo Station. The Yaeusu side is very convenient to the Shinkansen lines, as the Shinkansen tracks are essentially right above the Yaeusu entrance. The proximity to the Shinkansen makes this a great hotel to use as a base with the JR pass. Just note that Tokyo Station is very big — and if you’re coming from the Narita Express, you’ll add another 15 minutes of walking through the station to get to the Yaeusu exit. I really enjoyed the location — while it is “non-traditional” in that there aren’t many hotels around the Yaeusu side of Tokyo station, it was super convenient to everything. The hotel is also really close to Ginza, just a 15 minute walk to the main shopping street in Ginza — or one subway stop away on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Subway line. The hotel is directly across the street from Kyobashi Station, on the Tokyo Metro Ginza Subway line. The hotel itself is located on floors 2, 3, & 4 of an office tower. You enter the hotel essentially through the lobby of the office building. The hotel’s restaurant, the LavaRock is located on the ground floor, right next to entrance. Breakfast for gold and platinum members is provided in the LavaRock restaurant. It was a pretty decent American breakfast — though their idea of “pancakes” was more like a golfball made of dough than it was a pancake. That being said, this is the best free breakfast I’ve ever had a Courtyard – especially since most Courtyard’s don’t provide breakfast. The hotel lobby is up on the 4th floor of the building. So when you’re checking in, you’ll come in the lobby, and find the two elevators specifically for the courtyard hotel. Take them up to the fourth floor, and the check-in desk is right there. Floors 2 and 3 are “key-card” controlled — you’ll need your room-key to exit the elevators on those floors. When we checked in our room was still being cleaned, they offered us some complimentary tea while we were waiting. Apparently there is complimentary tea in the lobby, and in the coffee shop on the first floor. I stayed in a Corner Twin Room here for a week — and really loved it! For a room in Tokyo, the Corner Twin is a really good size. Two nice fluffy beds, and even a sofa. Bright, airy, and quiet! The other rooms in this hotel did look a bit small as I passed by them in the hallway, I’d even consider them small by Tokyo standards. So if you need “stretching room”, definitely book a corner twin if its available. Just make no mistake, this is definitely a “business” hotel, and not a resort. Don’t expect to be hanging around the hotel all day… but why would you? You’re in Tokyo!
