Team Fortress 2

Team Fortress 2 is a team-based first-person shooter multiplayer video game developed and published by Valve Corporation. It is the sequel to the 1996 mod Team Fortress for Quake and its 1999 remake. It was released as part of the video game compilation The Orange Box on October 10, 2007 for Windows and the Xbox 360. A PlayStation 3 version followed on December 11, 2007. On April 8, 2008, it was released as a standalone title for Windows. The game was updated to support OS X on June 10, 2010, and Linux on February 14, 2013. It is distributed online through Valve's download retailer Steam; retail distribution was handled by Electronic Arts.

In Team Fortress 2, players join one of two teams comprising nine character classes, battling in a variety of game modes including capture the flag and king of the hill. The development is led by John Cook and Robin Walker, creators of the original Team Fortress. Announced in 1998, the game once had more realistic, militaristic visuals and gameplay, but this changed over the protracted nine-year development. After Valve released no information for six years, Team Fortress 2 regularly featured in Wired News' annual vaporware list among other ignominies. The finished Team Fortress 2 has cartoon-like visuals influenced by the art of J. C. Leyendecker, Dean Cornwell and Norman Rockwell and is powered by Valve's Source engine.

Soldier (1998 Indian film)

Soldier is a 1998 Bollywood action thriller film directed by Abbas-Mustan starring Raakhee, Bobby Deol and Preity Zinta. The film was released in 1998 and was declared as a 'Super Hit' by Box Office India, becoming the 4th highest grossing film of the year. Although Soldier was Preity Zinta's first film, Mani Ratnam's Dil Se.. ended up being released before Soldier and was thus Zinta's film debut. It was remade in Tamil as Villu by Prabhu Deva starring Vijay and Nayantara in lead roles in 2009.

Plot

Captain Vijay Malhotra (Pankaj Dheer) attempts to defend himself when corrupt army officials, Pratap Singh (Suresh Oberoi), Virender Sinha (Dalip Tahil), and Jaswant Dalal (Salim Ghouse), intercept a truck-load of arms and ammunition, with the help of Virender's brother, Baldev (Sharat Saxena) which they are about to sell illicitly to gangsters. Vijay Malhotra stops the trio of smugglers, but subsequently is shot to death by a mysterious man by the name of DK, who is the ringleader of the smugglers.

British Army uniform

History

Prior to the English Civil War of 1642-51 the only significant instances of uniform dress in British military culture occurred in small bodyguard units, notably the Yeoman of the Guard. During the Civil War the Parliamentary New Model Army adopted a fairly standardised pattern of red clothing, a practice which continued with the small regular English Army of the Restoration period.

By the end of the 17th century, the English army uniform's colour (England not yet having joined with Scotland to form Great Britain), was largely settled on red with few exceptions. The practice of distinguishing regiments by different facings was in general use by the early 18th century. In the decades after the end of the Napoleonic Wars, British Army uniforms trended towards extravagance rather than practicality. That trend was reversed during Crimean war with the adoption of looser fitting tunics and more practical headdresses. Red coats were however retained, except in India where drab coloured garments were introduced in 1848 and worn increasingly from 1857 on.

Storm

A storm is any disturbed state of an environment or astronomical body's atmosphere especially affecting its surface, and strongly implying severe weather. It may be marked by significant disruptions to normal conditions such as strong wind, hail, thunder and lightning (a thunderstorm), heavy precipitation (snowstorm, rainstorm), heavy freezing rain (ice storm), strong winds (tropical cyclone, windstorm), or wind transporting some substance through the atmosphere as in a dust storm, blizzard, sandstorm, etc.

Storms generally lead to negative impacts on lives and property such as storm surge, heavy rain or snow (causing flooding or road impassibility), lightning, wildfires, and vertical wind shear; however, systems with significant rainfall can alleviate drought in places they move through. Heavy snowfall can allow special recreational activities to take place which would not be possible otherwise, such as skiing and snowmobiling.

The English word comes from Proto-Germanic *sturmaz meaning "noise, tumult".

Storm (Malagasy band)

Storm is a Malagasy power metal band formed in 1998. They are one of the few Madagascar-based bands to play heavy metal and the first to play power metal. All of their lyrics are written in the Malagasy language. They released their self-titled debut album in 2005.

Storm is a 2005 Swedish fantasy-thriller film directed by Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein. The film stars Eric Ericson, Eva Röse and Jonas Karlsson. The official opening of Storm was on 20 January 2006, but the actual opening was at a preview of the film on 18 November 2005 during the Stockholm Film Festival, where it also was awarded. Before 2006, Storm had already been sold to 18 other countries.

Plot

Slacker Donny's (Eric Ericson) life is turned upside-down when Lova (Eva Rose) enters his life possessing a mysterious box which may hold answers to eternal and dangerous questions. But evil forces want to possess the box, and Donny and Eva must travel through time to ensure the future of mankind.

Production

The film was shot in Stockholm, Vänersborg (as the abandoned city) and in Trollhättan, a.k.a. Trollywood.

Reception

Steve Pattee from "horrortalk.com" blamed the film for having a "less than satisfactory" ending, but he gave three out of five stars. A blogger named Cyrus also spoke of a "less than satisfying ending" because there was possibly "a bit too much" left for the viewer to ponder. Bill Gribon from "dvdtalk.com" appreciated "Storm" as "fascinating food for thought".
