Baby names out of action in just a generation or two

There was a time you couldn't walk two paces without bumping into a Sarah or Andrew, but where are they now?

Todays' parents want nothing to do with the names they grew up with - in fact they or their own parents probably bear those very names, which means they are nowhere near ready for a comeback.

According to the theory that names become popular again only after 80-100 years has passed (or 3-4 generations), we won't be seeing names popular in the last few generations, used again for babies in our lifetimes.

Member Ali27 also notes "Shortening names doesn't seem as popular either - William remains William, not Bill, and James is never Jim."

In a popular thread by members on the Essential Baby and Essential Kids forums, these are the names which have dropped off in a generation.
