Phoebe Philo OBE (born 1973) is a British fashion designer. In 2014 she was named by Time Magazine as amongst the world's 100 most influential people.
Philo was born to British parents working in Paris. Her father is a surveyor and her mother, Celia Philo, is an art dealer and graphic artist (who had a hand in creating David Bowie’s Aladdin Sane album cover). She was raised in Harrow-on-the-Hill, London. In 1987, at the age of 14, she began customizing her clothes after receiving a sewing machine as a birthday present from her parents. She studied at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London, graduating in 1996, a year after Stella McCartney.
She graduated showing a final student collection that The Guardian would later describe as having a “Latino influence and huge gold jewellery. She quickly joined Chloé as Stella McCartney's first assistant for Ready-to-wear in Paris.
She began working for Chloé in 1997 as Stella McCartney's design assistant, succeeding her as Creative Director in 2001, after the Gucci Group offered McCartney the opportunity to launch her own label.
Philo of Alexandria (/ˈfaɪloʊ/; Greek: Φίλων, Philōn; Hebrew: ידידיה הכהן, Yedidia (Jedediah) HaCohen; c. 25 BCE – c. 50 CE), also called Philo Judaeus, was a Hellenistic Jewish philosopher who lived in Alexandria, in the Roman province of Egypt.
Philo used philosophical allegory to attempt to fuse and harmonize Greek philosophy with Jewish philosophy. His method followed the practices of both Jewish exegesis and Stoic philosophy. His allegorical exegesis was important for several Christian Church Fathers, but he has barely any reception history within Rabbinic Judaism. He believed that literal interpretations of the Hebrew Bible would stifle humanity's view and perception of a God too complex and marvelous to be understood in literal human terms.
Some scholars hold that his concept of the Logos as God's creative principle influenced early Christology. Other scholars, however, deny direct influence but say both Philo and Early Christianity borrow from a common source.
The few biographical details known about Philo are found in his own works, especially in Legatio ad Gaium (Embassy to Gaius) of which only two of the original five volumes survive, and in Josephus. The only event in his life that can be decisively dated is his participation in the embassy to Rome in 40 CE. He represented the Alexandrian Jews before Roman Emperor Caligula because of civil strife between the Alexandrian Jewish and Greek communities.
The New York Times (sometimes abbreviated to NYT) is an American daily newspaper, founded and continuously published in New York City since September 18, 1851, by the New York Times Company. It has won 117 Pulitzer Prizes, more than any other news organization.
The paper's print version has the second-largest circulation, behind The Wall Street Journal, and the largest circulation among the metropolitan newspapers in the United States. It is ranked 39th in the world by circulation. Following industry trends, its weekday circulation has fallen to fewer than one million daily since 1990. Nicknamed for years as "The Gray Lady", The New York Times has long been regarded within the industry as a national "newspaper of record". It is owned by The New York Times Company. Arthur Ochs Sulzberger, Jr. – whose family (Ochs-Sulzberger) has controlled the paper for five generations, since 1896 – is both the paper's publisher and the company's chairman. Its international version, formerly the International Herald Tribune, is now called the International New York Times.
New York is a state in the Northeastern United States and is the United States' 27th-most extensive, fourth-most populous, and seventh-most densely populated state. New York is bordered by New Jersey and Pennsylvania to the south and Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont to the east. The state has a maritime border in the Atlantic Ocean with Rhode Island, east of Long Island, as well as an international border with the Canadian provinces of Quebec to the north and Ontario to the west and north. The state of New York, with an estimated 19.8 million residents in 2015, is often referred to as New York State to distinguish it from New York City, the state's most populous city and its economic hub.
With an estimated population of nearly 8.5 million in 2014, New York City is the most populous city in the United States and the premier gateway for legal immigration to the United States. The New York City Metropolitan Area is one of the most populous urban agglomerations in the world. New York City is a global city, exerting a significant impact upon commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment, its fast pace defining the term New York minute. The home of the United Nations Headquarters, New York City is an important center for international diplomacy and has been described as the cultural and financial capital of the world, as well as the world's most economically powerful city. New York City makes up over 40% of the population of New York State. Two-thirds of the state's population lives in the New York City Metropolitan Area, and nearly 40% live on Long Island. Both the state and New York City were named for the 17th century Duke of York, future King James II of England. The next four most populous cities in the state are Buffalo, Rochester, Yonkers, and Syracuse, while the state capital is Albany.

Phoebe Philo receives her honorary fellowship from University of the Arts London and addresses the Class of 2015
Due to the popular demand of the Rei Kawakubo on my YouTube channel, I have decided to create a biography series for the site and channel. I will be covering all of my fashion heroes and the industries most influential people. First up is the incredibly influential and completely iconoclastic, Phoebe Philo. I had the pleasure of working with her back when she was the Creative Director at Chloe. I fell in love with her then and have never stopped being a mega fan of her style and clothing. Now she helms Celine, probably the most commercially influential brand in the world right now. Watch the video for my take on her history and why she has risen to the top of the business.
Designing for Celine, Phoebe Philo gives simplicity a gloss of glamour in a collection that has a strong military feel. Lyrics by Lord Worm
In the kitchen
With a screaming triple amputee;
It's complection depends soley
On my needs.
Said amputee stumps
Are my way of saying;
"Thank you just for being you."
It's fear tastes better than it's limbs.
Terror of mortality,
I draw from the slowly dying damned
Monsters live behind my eyes;
I let them out and people die.
And all the grave worms
That come for their piece of meat?
I give them dead things..
The wretched living are mine alone
Fright mounts with the body count
To which anthropomancy predicts a decline
In all of God's creation,
Can there be a lifestyle that's better than this?
I mark my territory
With their blood and excritement
And adipocere...
I can find my way in the dark;
My fulfilment is habitually necromanic
And anal abusive..
Seen through the eyes of a mortician
They've "caught" me, as they call it;
My teeth and my semen have betrayed me..
Nevermore!
Tests to gauge my rationale,
The likes of which these feeble minds have
Never seen.
Rorschach blotters,
My responses to which inspire fear...
From my lizard side,
The amoral alien speaks;
"These aren't butterflies,
I see a face I'd like to burn."
Obfuscation
Of the authorities with lies,
And my natur
Alability to charm and be me,
Or whoever they want;
