Saturday's hot weather was apparently all too much for one Pilbara camel who sought shelter under a mining dump truck as the region's mercury soared past 43 degrees while Perth had its hottest day in eight months.
Temperatures in the metropolitan area topped 37 degrees at 2.18pm as hoards of people headed to the beach or pool to cool down.

Camel takes refuge in the WA heat
As it reached 43 degrees in the Pilbara, the heat was too much for one camel that sought refuge under a mining truck.
It marked only the second day this spring in which the weather has peaked above 30 degrees in Perth after a long and wet winter.
Meanwhile, the North West recorded the hottest temperatures across the state with the Pilbara reaching the mid-40s, while West Roebuck, east of Broome, was a sweltering 46 degrees.
One baby camel discovered a rather unconventional way to cool down, resting in the sand underneath a truck at a workshop in Port Hedland.
Employees hit a 'hump' in the road when they discovered the animal hiding under their Caterpillar dump truck.
And there's not much reprieve in sight with temperatures expected to stay above 40 degrees in the town on Sunday and Monday.
It will be far cooler in Perth, but steady temperatures will mean most days will near the mid-20s all week.
