The walled-in city which became the creative melting pot for a special kind of sub and pop culture, attracting ingenious dilettantes and world famous celebrities alike. However, before the iron curtain would fall, artists and communards, squatters and hedonists of all kinds would enjoy Berlins unconventional lifestyle. It was not about long-term commercial success, but about living for the moment - the kick - the here and now.
With mostly unreleased TV and film footage, photos and original interviews, B-MOVIE tells the story of life in the divided city, a cultural interzone in which everything and anything seemed possible in a place unlike anywhere else in Europe. It’s a fast-paced collage of stories from a frenzied but creative decade, starting with punk and ending with the Love Parade, all from a city where the days are short and the nights are endless. This is a time when Berlin was like a B-MOVIE: Colourfully cheap and trashy, threatened and thrown together, anxious and ambitious, clubbed and caned, stoned and strung out, drunk, drugged and - just very special.

So this picture was made for many reasons: I wanted to draw the Sister Location characters in their updated designs, I wanted to make something for reaching 2,000 subscribers here on Youtube, I wanted to make something for almost reaching 30,000 pageviews on deviantart, AND I wanted to make something just for Halloween in general (I did uploaded the picture in time, it's just this speedpaint that took longer than usual.
Anyways, this speedpaint turned out better than I expected to be and I was worried that all the footage that I recorded on OBS isn't compatible to my usual editing software, but luckily it was fine in my older one, but it took nearly 6-7 hours for the footage to render and thankfully it turned out to be a great success for the most part.
I actually almost ran out of songs to use in the speedpaint, but I managed to get some that would work for the most part which all credit goes to those mentioned here, especially Chi-chi who made a really awesome Sister Location song which you guys should check out, as well as Ben Anderson who created a remastered version of "It's a B-Movie" from the film "The Brave Little Toaster".
Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed this speedpaint and thank you all so much for the 2,000 subscribers! :)

B movie
A B movie is a low-budget commercial motion picture that is not an arthouse film. In its original usage, during the Golden Age of Hollywood, the term more precisely identified a film intended for distribution as the less-publicized, bottom half of a double feature. Although the U.S. production of movies intended as second features largely ceased by the end of the 1950s, the term B movie continued to be used in the broader sense it maintains today. In its post–Golden Age usage, there is ambiguity on both sides of the definition: on the one hand, the primary interest of many inexpensive exploitation films is prurient; on the other, many B movies display a high degree of craft and aesthetic ingenuity.
In either usage, most B movies represent a particular genre—the Western was a Golden Age B movie staple, while low-budget science-fiction and horror films became more popular in the 1950s. Early B movies were often part of series in which the star repeatedly played the same character. Almost always shorter than the top-billed films they were paired with, many had running times of 70 minutes or less. The term connoted a general perception that B movies were inferior to the more handsomely budgeted headliners; individual B films were often ignored by critics.

Film

So this picture was made for many reasons: I wanted to draw the Sister Location characters in their updated designs, I wanted to make something for reaching 2,000 subscribers here on Youtube, I wanted to make something for almost reaching 30,000 pageviews on deviantart, AND I wanted to make something just for Halloween in general (I did uploaded the picture in time, it's just this speedpaint that took longer than usual.
Anyways, this speedpaint turned out better than I expected to be and I was worried that all the footage that I recorded on OBS isn't compatible to my usual editing software, but luckily it was fine in my older one, but it took nearly 6-7 hours for the footage to render and thankfully it turned out to be a great success for the most part.
I actually almost ran out of songs to use in the speedpaint, but I managed to get some that would work for the most part which all credit goes to those mentioned here, especially Chi-chi who made a really awesome Sister Location song which you guys should check out, as well as Ben Anderson who created a remastered version of "It's a B-Movie" from the film "The Brave Little Toaster".
Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed this speedpaint and thank you all so much for the 2,000 subscribers! :)
