Brent Harvey to work at North Melbourne in off-field role in 2017

NORTH Melbourne has confirmed Brent Harvey will work at the club next year.

The Herald Sunrevealed last week the Roos were in talks with the VFL-AFL games record-holder about future job prospects.

Harvey, 38, who is currently on a family holiday in the United States, will return as a mentor for at least the next two years.

“I’m really happy to be returning to Arden Street,” the 432-game superstar said.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the next generation of players come through and really start making their mark on the competition.”

A new-look Roos will take the field in 2017 with the likes of Ryan Clarke, Corey Wagner, Declan Mountford and Ed Vickers-Willis to push for senior selection.

North also added experienced youngsters Nathan Hrovat and Marley Williams during the trade period.

Harvey mentored former Western Bulldogs forward/midfielder Hrovat in his draft year.

“I’ll take a hands-on role with them over the next two years helping to guide them and be there as a support mechanism in terms of their on-field and off-field development,” Harvey said.

“I just want North to be successful and to remain a part of the team is really exciting and I can’t wait to get started.”

Harvey continue to be involved in Harvey’s Heroes, a clinic for 4-14 year-olds and has agreed to work with North’s Father-Son and Next Generation academies.

“I love seeing the smiles on all the kids’ faces when they run out onto the Arden Street oval and hope we have another big turn out next year.”

Harvey will spend next year playing alongside brother Shane at North Heidelberg.
