What is 'streaming'?

Streaming lets you listening to audio or video while it downloads over the internet to your computer. Audio and video files can be very big. Video especially can take a long time to deliver if you're using dial-up internet. Streaming reduces the size of these files and allows you to watch or hear them as they're delivered to your computer. This means you can start listening straight away without needing to wait for the entire file to download. Streaming also allows live content, such as radio and television programmes, to be delivered direct to your computer.

On internal tests we've found it displays the information more consistently across a wider range of browsers and platforms. It's quite a small download and worth the effort. Download Flash here.
