Pollok
Coordinates: 55°49′29″N 4°21′09″W / 55.8247°N 4.3524°W / 55.8247; -4.3524
Pollok (Scottish Gaelic: Pollag "Pitpow" meaning a pool) is a large housing estate on the south-western side of the city of Glasgow, Scotland. The estate was built to house families from the overcrowded inner city. Housing 30,000, it was built from the 1920s to the 1950s.
The main features of the area are the nearby park, Pollok Country Park where the Burrell Collection is now housed, and the adjacent Crookston Castle where Mary, Queen of Scots, was once held.

Air
Pollok is about 7 miles (11 km) from Glasgow International Airport, and 24 miles (39 km) from Glasgow Prestwick Airport.
Road
Pollok is accessible from junction 2 and 3 of M77 motorway, and Pollok's main bus terminus is Silverburn bus station.
Rail
Pollok is served by three railway stations these are, Nitshill railway station, Priesthill & Darnley railway station, and Mosspark railway station.
History
Pollok was built by the old Glasgow Corporation and was the first of the big four peripheral housing schemes built to improve Glasgow's slum housing conditions in the inner city. The building of Old Pollok commenced in the 1930s but was interrupted by World War II. The urgent need for housing after the war along with budgetary constraints meant that the original plan to build a 'garden suburb' was abandoned in favour of higher density, lower quality housing.

What About Pollok
The ArenA project was designed to develop an online, interactive solution born of the needs of adults from the Greater Pollok community. Over the past two years, Urban Learning Space has worked on the ArenA project with local people to develop StoryBox. As part of the development process, Urban Learning Space produced a series of 15 'ArenA flicks' to capture moving snapshots of the area. These visual stories formed the basis of StoryBox and inspired a wealth of other stories that have since been told.

Meeting Highland Cows at Pollok Country Park, Glasgow 2020 | Pollok House Garden
We visited Pollok House Garden in the Pollok Country Park Estate which is located in the Southside of Glasgow! This country park is actually pretty massive but we were only able to explore a bit of the Pollok House Garden which is surrounding the actual house. The Pollok House Garden has many things in it including a walled flower garden, maze, vegetable garden, cafe, and a deer park with lots of fluffy highland cows! If you're not able to see them in the highlands, I'd recommend you visit Pollok House Garden at Pollok Country Park because you'll be greeted with some cute furry animals! Pollok House Garden in Pollok Country Park is definitely a place you should visit for a wander, especially for a nice brisk autumn walk during a sunny day. Hope you enjoy this relaxed video! The building of Old Pollok commenced in the 1930s but was interrupted by World War II. The urgent need for housing after the war along with budgetary constraints meant that the original plan to build a 'garden suburb' was abandoned in favour of higher density, lower quality housing.
