Frankston Forest Baptist Church walking group members enjoy company and conversation

A BIT of gentle exercise can stimulate companionship and conversation, according to Norma Lavelle of the Frankston Forest Baptist Church walking group.

Ms Lavelle said the group met at the Frankston North Community Centre each Monday morning for a quick half-hour walk or an hour-long meander.

“We have women and men, babies in prams, and even dogs. They get out in the fresh air, get some gentle exercise and meet people,” she said.

“We talk about anything and everything. It’s a great release and good for people who mightn’t want to walk alone.

“Although some people are involved with the church, a lot of the people don’t have anything to do with it. That’s why we meet at the community centre.”

She said the group had been meeting for walks for about three years, after being brought back by public demand.
