OCCUPY WALL STREET

We Shall Not Be Moved

We shall not, we shall not be moved. We shall not, we shall not be moved
Just like a tree that’s standing by the water,
We shall not be moved

The union is behind us, We shall not be moved,
The union is behind us, We shall not be moved,
Just like a tree that’s standing by the water,
We shall not be moved

United we will win, We shall not be moved
United we will win, We shall not be moved
Just like a tree that’s standing by the water
We shall not be moved

84 year old woman speaks up after being peppered sprayed by the police

November, 2011
Dorli Rainey of Seattle is 84 years old.

She was peppered sprayed by the police while visiting an Occupy Seattle action.

Listen to her interview here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xwo5eumXxyA

Dorli lived in Germany seventy years ago. Here is some of what she says in the YouTube interview:

"Time is of the essence"

"I remember Goebbels"

"And I see the same thing happening here"

I particularly like the quote she gives at the 11:55 mark in the video:

"Whatever you do, take one more step out of your comfort zone."

OCCUPY TORONTO

Keep up with events in Toronto at http://occupyto.org/ and at http://toronto.mediacoop.ca/

We must honestly admit that capitalism has often left a gulf between superfluous wealth and abject poverty, has created conditions permitting necessities to be taken from the many to give luxuries to the few, and has encouraged small hearted men to become cold and conscienceless so that, like Dives before Lazarus, they are unmoved by suffering, poverty-stricken humanity. The profit motive, when it is the sole basis of an economic system, encourages a cutthroat competition and selfish ambition that inspire men to be more I-centered than thou-centered. - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Those who are Responsible should be held Accountable

Violent police attacked and injured many peaceful G20 protesters in Toronto during the biggest mass arrest in Canadian history as the police state roled out its arsenal in the streets of the city of neighbourhoods. Testimonials repeat tales of police brutality and depravity. Gays, women and others were targeted. Civilians were abducted and journalists threatened but police stayed away and watched as vandals smashed windows and trashed police cruisers selectively abandoned near the heart of the security zone. Canada in Afghanistan: The New Conquistadores

February 23, 2008 by David Orchard. The terms used to describe our occupation and ongoing war are remarkably similar to those used over a century ago by colonial powers to justify their ruthless wars of colonization. Then, it was the white man’s burden to “civilize” the non-whites of the Americas, Africa and Asia.  As cub scouts we were taught Kipling’s unforgettable prose about the “lesser breeds,” but nothing about the real people who paid horrendous costs in death, suffering, destruction and theft of their land and resources...
