Camille O'Sullivan pays tribute to music legends of various genres in a "best of" gig at the Toff. Performing for the Melbourne Festival, O'Sullivan will balance passionate variations of songs by the likes of Radiohead, David Bowie and Jacques Brel with a dash of humour.

Classical concert Schubert Quintet sees members of the Australian Octet perform Franz Schubert's one and only String Quintet. The Austrian composer's creation was revived and recognised for its elegance and complexity decades after his death. The program will also feature Koehne's Octet and Dvorak's String Sextet.

Brisbane six-piece Kingfisha present their second album, Offered it Up. Canadian dance/circus company Les 7 Doigts (The 7 Fingers) have brought their show, Triptyque, to our shores – an Australian exclusive presented by the Melbourne Festival. Determined to push the boundaries of the human body, Les 7 Doigts have compiled three works into an interactive production that blends theatre, contemporary dance and acrobatics.

Melbourne Festival's The Money is a game-theatre experience where audience members are split into silent witnesses and power-waging benefactors. La Mama transports audiences to Renaissance Italy with its cabaret The Masque of Beauty. Iconic vixens from the pages of history, such as Lucrezia Borgia (Pope Alexander Sixtus' infamously beautiful daughter) and Isabella D'Este (the sultry Marchese of Mantua), spring to life in this performance about dominance, sex, death, family and gossip.

The fifth annual Melbourne Salami Festa is back – and this time it's going to be a weekend-long affair. Living with coeliac disease and gluten intolerance is no easy feat, but Coeliac Victoria and Tasmania are showing their support with the Gluten Free Expo and Conference. Visitors can taste and buy hundreds of savoury and sweet gluten-free products and listen to expert speakers, such as dietitian Dr Sue Shepherd and gastroenterologist Dr Jason Tye-Din, offering insight and advice. There will also be fun for the kids in the kids' activities zone.

Artist Antonia Sellbach's interest in the relationship between visual abstraction and language has led to a series of colourful, modular works, which are on display in the exhibition, Open Fields. Sellbach creates her paintings in individual segments and then mixes-and-matches different segments together like a puzzle, depending on the installation. Visitors to Heide can experience her designs until February 26, 2017.

Take the whole family, especially the furry members, to Dogapalooza 2016. Melbourne's first dog-friendly music festival is back with live performances, a vegan barbecue, 10 different food trucks and kid-friendly activities, such as face painting and games. The music line-up includes headliner Thelma Plum, The Little Stevies and Sam Lohs. All proceeds from the festival go to Melbourne's dog rescue groups and Oscar's Law.

TALK

Melbourne Festival and ACMI present an opportunity to meet Nyarri Nyarri Morgan, a Martu elder whose life story is the subject of the virtual reality film Collisions. In the talk Virtual Reality, History and Indigenous Experience, Morgan will discuss his life, his experience filming Collisions, and the broader issues facing the Martu people. His wife Nola, director Lynette Wallworth and Martu leader Curtis Taylor will also be in attendance.

EXHIBITION

The iconic images of American documentary photographer Walker Evans inspire and impact artists around the world. Evans' influence on Australian artists is the focus of an exhibition curated by David Company and Naomi Cass, for Melbourne Festival. Walker Evans and Selected Australian Art will feature artist responses to Evans' work via photography, video and image. Participating artists include Patrick Pound and Louis Porter.
