Hanoi Hannah's easy effervescent Vietnamese street food has been revving up punters in Windsor for a couple of years, and now it's Elsternwick's turn.

It's propped on a prime corner opposite the Classic Cinema and Elsternwick Station.

The open kitchen bustles with a frenetic stream of takeaway orders, while those wanting to stay a while can take a seat in the laidback glass-and-wood dining room or at the broad sweep of outdoor tables arcing around the building.

The menu offers a mash-up from the original Hanoi Hannah and the Hanoi Hannah Express Lane restaurants, with a truncated takeaway menu of pho, spring rolls, banh mi, rice-paper rolls and salad bowls, while the eat-in menu is a chunkier offering that includes pork belly wraps, chicken ribs and grilled fish with turmeric.

With a budget-friendly wine list and some zippy cocktails, southside summer is looking pretty lush.

Open daily noon until late.
