The sale whisperer: Melbourne's best shopping September 6-13

Manning Cartell at 70 per cent off, a Bendon clearance for the ages and a new knitwear emporium in Armadale. Who needs footy when there's this much shopping to do?

Sales round-up

OK, our spies at TSW have been for a sneak peek of the Manning Cartell warehouse sale and it's pretty epic.

There are tops from $50, skirts from $100 and dresses from $120, some of which were up to $700 full price. There's also up to 70 per cent off the original price of knitwear, shoes and jackets.

This dress is included in the Manning Cartell sale, which is discounting stock by up to 70 per cent.

A change of season is the perfect time to update your wardrobe staples, like T-shirts and underwear.

Bendon's Biggest Bra Sale starts next Wednesday at all Bendon outlets, with massive reductions on brands including Heidi Klum Intimates, Pleasure State and Lovable. There are three for $25 deals on bras, sleepwear from $5 and bra and brief sets for $20.

At nine locations around Melbourne. Check website for opening hours.

Bendon is having a massive warehouse clearance at its outlets from Wednesday.

In this fast-fashion world, everyone loves a bit of guilt-free clothing. Vegan faux fur label Unreal Fur is having a winter clear-out on its website.

Jackets that were $360 are now down to $250, while vests start from $99. We love the Scene Maker jacket in silver (was $349, now $175).

Online only, while stocks last.

The Scandinavians are known for many things – IKEA, Volvos and vikings. But they also make pretty darned good clothing.

North Collective is discounting brands including Saks Potts, PRC, Belsac, Still Nordic and All At Sea by 50 per cent. Samples include coats, pyjamas, jeans, fur, cashmere, bags and accessories. There'll be champagne and music – what's not to like?

For a label that doesn't follow trends, Mister Zimi has a few key summer looks stitched up. Its '70s vibe and bold prints make the Bali-based label a sound investment for this season.

This weekend, it's having a warehouse sale to clear past seasons' stock, seconds and samples, at up to 80 per cent off.

Next up, we have something for supporters of Australian art and artists.

The Hunting Collective gathered 13 artists to paint clocks in their own designs that will be auctioned off over the next two weeks. This weekend, the showroom in Richmond will be open so prospective buyers can inspect and bid on their clocks, which have a starting price of $250. The artists will receive 50 per cent of the final price.

The auction ends 11pm next Friday. Our favourite is Beci Orpin's colourful design, made from paint, paper and vinyl.

31 Wangaratta Street, Richmond. Friday noon-6pm, Saturday 10am-5pm.

Just opened

Armadale is seriously buzzing. Just ask Lisa Dempsey of Jac + Jack, which has opened a new store on the site of the former Mecca Cosmetica on High Street.

"There's a real reason to go to Armadale. It's a great precinct for a lot of premium brands," she told Fairfax Media last week.

The new store has a gallery feel and good news for anyone who loved the garden out the back at Mecca – it's staying, and will be utilised even more.

The change rooms are in the centre of the shop, which has a simple yet elegant fit-out, Dempsey says.

"It feels calm, understated. It's not pretentious, it's certainly welcoming."

Jac + Jack, known for its luxury knits, will expand its menswear range at the new, larger store.

The brand also has plans to open a second London store and expand to the US.

1021 High Street, Armadale. Monday-Saturday 9.30am-5.30pm, Sunday 10.30am-5.30pm.

#inthecart: eyelet dresses

Fusing two of my favourite trends of now: the '90s slip dress and eyelet detailing. I just bought one from ASOS for my upcoming overseas holiday but there are plenty of styles for everyone.
