Fairfax Media’s DRX Performance Network offers a range of mass reach, cross-screen direct response solutions, by providing advertisers and agencies with exclusive access to Australia’s most engaged and valuable audience across the Fairfax Media Digital Network.

There are three phases to DRX campaigns:

DRX compatible ad formats, are disclosed below. With regards to all 3rd party creative tags provided, please ensure they are secure or SSL compliant; this is inclusive of impression trackers and across all devices, video, display and mobile.

Additional requirements:

  • Frame rate: 18-21fps
  • 30sec max, no looping
  • Recommended to published creative to Flash 8 – can accept Flash 9
  • Action script 3 & 3 accepted
  • 40kb max file size
  • Minimum of 3 ad sizes must be supplied for optimization purposes
  • All Flash creative submissions should have an accompanying default graphic. If Creatives still do not adhere to the specifications Fairfax may use the back up GIF version without consultation

Additional requirements:

  • For best user experience, Click-through URL should be for a page that is optimized for a mobile browser unless the campaign targets devices with full HTML browsers. This may be a dedicated mobile page, or a page that can detect mobile browsers and generate the HTML accordingly.

Display Rules (across Desktop, Mobile & Tablet)

  • 48hr turn around depending on assets to spec
  • All DRX CPC cost model bookings require creative to be clickable at all time during rotation.
  • Please Note: Any element NOT meeting spec will be returned for revision, which may delay the expected live date.
  • Creatives that should start on a Monday morning must be received by the end of the business day the previous Thursday
  • You may not use locally shared object (LSO) technologies (including but not limited to flash cookies, browser helper objects, or HTML5 localStorage) for behavioral advertising, ad delivery, reporting, and/or multi-site advertising because these are not exposed via typical browser user controls.
  • Creative must feature a 1 pixel border (gray [#666666] or black recommended, though any color that clearly distinguishes the ad from the content may be used)

Additional requirements:

  • The advertiser must submit VAST creative 3 business days and VPAID creative 5 business days prior to live date
  • Audience Extension (Youtube etc.):
    • 15 second maximum video duration
    • FLV required for D&A audience extension
    • webm required for D&A audience extension
  • Run of Fairfax: 15 & 30 second video duration (limited 30″ inventory – please confirm with Fairfax first)
  • DRX Video: 15 & 30 second video duration
  • All Video quartile tracking pixels and any 3th-party calls made within the pixels from daisy-chaining must be SSL-compliant.
  • 1×1 image pixels are allowed on the impression, view, and skip events, but not midpoint and complete events.
  • To include more than one vendor’s tracking per event, the client or agency is responsible for piggybacking or daisy-chaining the pixels because only one 1×1 image pixel per event is allowed. JavaScript is not allowed.
  • VAST ads must not include skippable or other advanced functionality.
  • VAST ads on Fairfax do not use all beacons provided in the VAST tag. Mute, unmute, pause and fullscreen beacons are not used.
