That's all folks
Let's wrap it up here, folks. What a day. Another Melbourne Cup has come and gone. It was a fifth Melbourne Cup triumph for owner Lloyd Williams, who made his way to Flemington for the first time in about 20 years to see Almandin edge out Heartbreak City in a thrilling finish. And it was a second Cup triumph for jockey Kerrin McEvoy. Godolphin horse Hartnell completed the placings to mean that conglomeration is again left waiting for a Melbourne Cup winner.
Stay with this website tonight and tomorrow for the latest Melbourne Cup news and expert analysis from the likes of Greg Baum, Patrick Bartley, Chris Roots, Michael Lynch and Adam Pengilly.

Beating the Melbourne Cup handicapper
Lloyd Williams had high hopes for Almandin yesterday when he said he believed the horse had beaten the Melbourne Cup handicapper and got into the race with a lower weight than it should have had.
Last Cup horse has 'internal bleed'
Rose of Virginia was found to have suffered an internal bleed and "galloped on its right hind", after apparently being clipped by another horse.

Streaky Bay boy on a winning streak
Kerrin McEvoy's mum describes her joy at watching her son win the Melbourne Cup.
"I'm very proud at the moment," Tracy McEvoy said.
"I think it will mean more than last time, you appreciate it more when you are older."
She said there will be celebrations in Streaky Bay, his home town, throughout the week.
"We'll be heading off to the pub for a few drinks to celebrate."
