Paul Francis Gadd (born 8 May 1944), known by the stage name Gary Glitter, is an English former glam rock singer-songwriter and musician who achieved great popular success between the early 1970s and mid-1980s. He was known for his extreme glam image of glitter suits, makeup and platform boots, and his energetic live performances. He has sold over 20 million records, spent 168 weeks in the UK charts and has had 21 hit singles placing him in the top 100 UK most successful chart acts. From 1997, he gained notoriety for sex offence convictions, being imprisoned for possession of child pornography in 1999, and child sexual abuse and attempted rape in 2006 and 2015.
After performing under the name Paul Raven in the 1960s, he first came to prominence as Gary Glitter in the glam rock era of the early 1970s, with a sustained solo UK chart run of hits including "Rock and Roll, Parts One and Two", "Do You Wanna Touch Me", "I Love You Love Me Love", "I'm the Leader of the Gang (I Am)", and "Hello, Hello, I'm Back Again". A slight decline in the late 1970s was followed by a successful comeback as a solo artist again from the 1980s. Between 1972 and 1995, Glitter had 26 hit singles which spent a total of 180 weeks in the UK Top 100; twelve of those reached the Top 10, with three charting at number 1. He continued to record in the 1980s and 1990s, with his 1984 song "Another Rock n' Roll Christmas" becoming one of the most played Christmas hits of all time. He released seven studio albums, and at least 15 greatest hits collections or live albums. In 1998, his recording of "Rock and Roll" was listed as one of the top 1,001 songs in music history. The mostly instrumental "Rock and Roll, Part 2" has been played as a popular cheering song at American sporting events for several decades.

"Do You Wanna Touch Me? (Oh Yeah)" is a glam rock song performed by Gary Glitter. The song reached Number 2 in the UK Singles Chart in January 1973, his third successive UK hit. The song represented something of a departure from the "trademark" of the Glitter sound and it was co-written by Glitter and his record producer. The song was also used in The Runaways biopic of the same name.
Gary Glitter's conviction marks the lowest point in a spectacular fall from grace for the ageing rocker. It is a far cry from his glam rock heyday of the 1970s, when his spangly silver outfits, platform boots, and numerous chart hits, including I'm The Leader of the Gang, Rock and Roll (Part 1 and 2); Do You Wanna Touch Me and I Love You Love Me Love, made him a household name. At the height of his success in 1975 he had sold 18 million records. While his stardom faded, Glitter's appeal continued to endure into the 1990s, with his face appearing in advertising posters for Heinz soup and British Rail. However, his career came crashing down when he was arrested, after dozens of images of child sex abuse were found on his computer's hard disk. The former rocker went from selling out stadiums ...

The former pop star appears in court over child sex charges.
The former singer, Gary Glitter, has been jailed for 16 years for sexually abusing three young girls between 1975 and 1980. The judge at Southwark Crown Court told Glitter, who was tried under his real name Paul Gadd, that it was "difficult to overstate the depravity" of his behaviour. Sarah Campbell reports.

"Rock and Roll" (also known as "The Hey Song") is a song performed by British glam rocker Gary Glitter that was released in 1972 as a single and on the album Glitter. Co-written by Glitter and Mike Leander, the song is in two parts: Part 1 is a vocal track reflecting on the history of the genre, and Part 2 is a mostly instrumental piece. Both parts were popular in Britain, and the single went to No. 2 on the British charts. In concert, Glitter merged both into one performance. It is Glitter's only US top 10 hit for him.

Alright with the boys
Alright with the boys
Alright with the boys
Alright with the boys
Hey you, what you gonna do?
Now I'm back with the boys again
Hey you, I've been through it too
Now I'm back with the boys again
Ain't no doubt that I've been missin' out
On someone's kissin'
Oh, you will find that I knew all the time
What I was missin'
And now I'm back with the boys
Hey you, what you gonna do?
Now I'm makin' all the noise again
Hey you, what you gonna do?
Now I'm playin' with my toys again
Now I'm back with the boys again
I'm doin' alright, I'm doin' alright
With the boys, boys, boys
I'm doin' alright, I'm doin' alright
With the boys, boys, boys
Hey you, what you gonna do?
Now I'm back with the boys again
Hey you, what's your point of view?
Now I'm back with the boys again
Ain't no doubt that time is runnin' out
Now you must chase me
Oh, what a drag that money in your bank
Just can't replace me
Now I'm back with the boys
Hey you, what you gonna do?
Now I'm makin' all the noise again
Hey you, what you gonna do?
Now I'm jumpin' up my joys again
Now I'm back with the boys again
Alright with the boys
Alright with the boys
I'm doin' alright, I'm doin' alright
Now I'm back with the boys again
I'm doin' alright, I'm doin' alright
Now I'm back with the boys again
Play with my toys, makin' the noise
Now I'm back with the boys again
Back with the boys makin' the noise
Now I'm back with the boys again
Alright, now I'm makin' the noise again
