Two arrested over Ararat prescription drug seizure

TWO people have been arrested after police seized a “large quantity” of prescription medication, methyl amphetamine, cash and gun ammunition in the state’s west.

Police seized the drugs after executing warrants at a home in Moore St, Ararat, as well as a storage facility on McGibbony Court, about 1.30pm on Thursday.

Prescription medications, methyl amphetamine, cannabis, cash and pistol ammunition were allegedly uncovered.

A 28-year-old Ararat woman and a 21-year-old Ararat man have both been charged with drug trafficking offences.

The woman was remanded in custody to appear at Horsham Magistrates’ Court on November 7.

The man was returned to prison for breaching parole and will appear before Horsham Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
