Padmashree Simon Oraon recognized as a King of 12 Padha ( 51 Villages) since 1964. According to him "Jameen Aur Pani hi Kisaan ki Punji hai" and this thing he realized long time ago, now he has taken the initiative to make others understand the same. He has been working selflessly to encourage people to live in harmony with nature.He says, “Fighting among ourselves gives us nothing, but fighting with land gives us our daily bread." He is also known for his intillectual consultation in various issues and disputes among the villagers, his knowledge for herbal medicines (naturopathy) for various diseases and his initiative for "Jal Jungle Jameen Movement”.
His knowledge of nature as well as his leadership skills have won him the respect of various tribes and religions in the state.
Padmashree Simon Oraon for past seven decades, has been teaching fifty one villages in Bero area and other parts of Jharkhand, to protect their environment. He is popularly as "Baba", he has been working towards the better rainwater harvesting and conservation of nature.
His major achivements includes leading his people in the construction of Three Dams, Seven Ponds, Three Canals ( 7000Ft.), numerous wells.

The Oraon are among India's Advivasi tribal people. Adivasi simply means Aboriginal and, as such, the Oraon represent India's original peoples. Yet, after multiple foreign conquerors through the ages the Oraon have found themselves now without land, power, and money. They, instead, are among India's classless and thereby servant to everyone else.
This tribal people live near the Himalayas and work on the vast tea plantations that remain from the British East India Tea Company. They are simple, humble people who have strong agrarian roots. The Oraons have very meaningful traditions and celebrations. Music, rhythm, and dance have long been a part of their cultural expression.
As we arrived at the entrance to the village everyone was there to greet us. The day was as important to them as it was to us, since we represented the first foreigners to visit them.
We were simply overwhelmed with the warm celebrative welcome they gave us. Placed in line after the singers and musicians we processed for 15-20 minutes into their village. The remaining Oraon community followed along behind us.
As Christians who had found their desired freedom in the love expressed to them through the message of Jesus Christ, they processed with songs of worship, the men playing the drums and the women dancing and singing as we slowly made our way into the village. It was an incredible experience to be engulfed in the celebration and spirit of the moment.

Kurukh people
The Oraon tribes उरांव or Kurukh कुड़ुख tribe (Kurukh: Oṛāōn and Kuṛuḵẖ), also spelled Uraon, Oran, or Oram, are tribal aborigines inhabiting various states across central and eastern India, Bangladesh and Bhutan. Traditionally, Oraons depended on the forest and farms for their ritual and economic livelihood, but in recent times, a few of them have become mainly settled agriculturalists. Small numbers of Oraons have migrated to the northeastern part of India, where they are mainly employed in tea estates.
Origins
According to the Indian Anthropological Society, Konkan is said to be the original home of the Kurukh tribes, from whence they migrated to Northern India. A Kurukh substratum is very prominent in the language of the Konkan or the Konkani language.
People
The Kurukh or Oraons are the tribals of Chota Nagpur Plateau. Oraon appears to have been assigned to them as a nickname by Mundas of Chotanagpur, or possibly with reference to their many migrations and proneness to roam, however, they prefer to be called Kurukhar.
