Story Details:
Suhasini (Suhasini) is a poor woman who has a younger brother and two sisters along with an irresponsible drunk father. Her elder sister (Sangeetha) is the breadwinner of the family. Suhasini studies law degree with the hard earned money of her sister and she prepares to marry an older person so that she would get a sum of 10,000 rupees. The hero (Bhanuchander), also a lawyer incidentally arrives in this scene and finds the self respect of Suhasini to be quite admirable. In a dramatic situation, he marries Suhasini in humanitarian value. The hero’s mother Lakshmi meanwhile is an extremely money minded woman and plans to get his son married for high dowry. Obviously, she gets shocked with this marriage and starts despising her daughter in law. Her husband (Prabhakara Reddy) is a very good gentleman who likes the good nature of Suhasini and her presence of mind. But the money minded mother in law plans to create a rift between Suhasini and her husband when the former goes on a tour to Delhi. The couple also has a son but the mother in law is so evil that she doesn’t allow Suhasini to look after her orphaned siblings when the elder sister dies. Things change in such a way that Suhasini had to leave the in laws house in order to rescue her siblings. A lawyer friend (Rajendra Prasad) helps Suhasini in pursuing her law profession and their friendship is mistaken by the hero. The rest of the film is about how Suhasini proves to be a responsible woman and a successful lawyer. The film ends on a happy note with the clearing of misunderstandings between the lead actors.

ICAF started organizing CHENNAI INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (CIFF) from the year 2003. All the earlier editions have seen a gradual growth in terms of attendance as well as popularity. With the film fraternity actively joining hands with ICAF since its 8th edition, the 11th edition of CIFF promises to be bigger and better.
Striving to be in par with the best International Film Festivals across the globe, CIFF is dedicated to presenting the best of international and Indian Panorama films to the cinema loving city of Chennai, just as it showcases the best of Tamil films to the world.
The Competition Section for Tamil Films that was instituted in 7th CIFF to encourage Tamil Filmmakers has been holding a strong presence. Active participation of the Tamil film fraternity was initiated and spearheaded by Ms. Suhasini Manirathnam in the year 2009, which gave a facelift to CIFF.
ICAF's management team includes professional from various walks of life who have a passion for movies. Suhasini Maniratnam (born Suhasini on 15 August 1961) is an Indian actress. She made her film debut in 1980 with the Tamil film Nenjathai Killathe for which she won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actress. Suhasini has won a National Film Award for Best Actress for Sindhu Bhairavi in 1986. She has also won seven Southern Filmfare Awards and other awards such as Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, Nandi Awards and Kerala State Film Awards.
Suhasini was born on 15 August 1961 in Chennai to actor Charuhasan, the elder brother of Kamal Hassan..
Suhasini has acted in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam films. She started her career as a make-up artist for several leading actors at that time. In Kannada, she acted in several movies like Bandhana and Muttina Haara (1990) directed by Rajendra Singh Babu, Benkiyalli Aralida Hoovu (1983) directed by K. Balchander, and Suprabhatha, directed by Dinesh Babu. In Kannada films, she is a popular artist, especially in Vishnuvardhan movies which were hits at box office. She was introduced to Malayalam cinema through Padmarajan's Koodevide (1983), which also featured Mammootty. Her role in the AFI Fest-nominated feature Vaanaprastham (1999), which starred Mohanlal, was particularly well received.

Story Details:
Suhasini (Suhasini) is a poor woman who has a younger brother and two sisters along with an irresponsible drunk father. Her elder sister (Sangeetha) is the breadwinner of the family. Suhasini studies law degree with the hard earned money of her sister and she prepares to marry an older person so that she would get a sum of 10,000 rupees. The hero (Bhanuchander), also a lawyer incidentally arrives in this scene and finds the self respect of Suhasini to be quite admirable. In a dramatic situation, he marries Suhasini in humanitarian value. The hero’s mother Lakshmi meanwhile is an extremely money minded woman and plans to get his son married for high dowry. Obviously, she gets shocked with this marriage and starts despising her daughter in law. Her husband (Prabhakara Reddy) is a very good gentleman who likes the good nature of Suhasini and her presence of mind. But the money minded mother in law plans to create a rift between Suhasini and her husband when the former goes on a tour to Delhi. The couple also has a son but the mother in law is so evil that she doesn’t allow Suhasini to look after her orphaned siblings when the elder sister dies. Things change in such a way that Suhasini had to leave the in laws house in order to rescue her siblings. A lawyer friend (Rajendra Prasad) helps Suhasini in pursuing her law profession and their friendship is mistaken by the hero. The rest of the film is about how Suhasini proves to be a responsible woman and a successful lawyer. The film ends on a happy note with the clearing of misunderstandings between the lead actors.

Suhasini Mani Ratnam has acted opposite almost all the leading stars of her time. After her marriage with Mani Ratnam, the actress just vanished and was hardly seen in Malayalam films later on.
