Saturday saved its best for last with St Kilda causing one of the upsets of the season by defeating premiership favourites Geelong at Etihad Stadium!

In a thrilling encounter, the Saints got the jump on the Cats and led by as much as 31 points in the second quarter.

But it was only a matter of time before Geelong responded and when they booted the first three goals of the final term, they took a nine-point lead at the 18-minute mark and looked good things.

However, to the Saints' credit, they had one last run left in them and they kicked the last two goals of the match to score a famous three-point victory.

The result sees Geelong lose top spot to Sydney. That should only be a temporary arrangement as Hawthorn face Gold Coast tomorrow and should take care of them with minimum fuss.

So after having their premiership credentials questioned for most of the season, the Hawks will almost certainly grab top spot after 14 rounds. They're an amazing club.

For the emerging Saints, it was their sixth win of the season and they join a massive mid-ladder logjam with five teams now 6-7 and two games outside the top eight.

The Cats might have been the flag favourites heading into this round according to the bookies, but incredibly they have now lost to Carlton, Collingwood and St Kilda.

In other results today, GWS made light work of the Blues to re-enter the top four and Richmond were comfortable victors over the Brisbane Lions.
