[Blind Play] 1st playthrough, 1st encounter, 4th attempt. Guy's tough, even with a phantom. Lots of HP and high physical absorption + very heavy hitter. You can bait his single swing by standing just off of his left foot, about 1-2 body lengths away. This results in a single swing that leaves him open for about 2 hits as he recovers. He has a number of flurry combo's, and you'll pretty much just need to read them and find your openings accordingly. Don't get greedy, he can punish that very very easily, especially if you stagger at all. Recommend a sub-70% weight ratio so you can fast-roll, a speed weapon that dishes respectable damage without consuming much stamina (you'll need to conserve some to evade away from him following your attacks), a shield with 100% physical absorption, and Ring of Giants +1 for added poise. Stamina management, pose, patience, and well timed evasions are the keys to this one... and remember, DON'T GET GREEDY. He killed me three times with what looked to be a single HP left, just because I tried to rush to end it to recklessly.

This is as hard as it gets with Fume Knight. If you wear Velstadt Helm he will buff his sword at the start of the fight. In this form you only have 2 windows of opportunity to attack him. One when he sweep attacks and other when he does the forward thrust attack.

King Vendrick Boss Fight - Dark Souls II - Become the King slayer
I had 4 Giant Souls at this point. When I had but one Giant soul, I got my ass kicked haha. I left the previous boss fight in-order to do the Dragon/giant memory stuff, hence the health/defense buff of Vendrick. I fought boring, because that's the best way to defeat him.

While playing Dark Souls 2 I noticed numerous bonfire locations appearing within the fast travel selection. Yet the title for each place is just "???". I have tried to travel to them and nothing happens. Can someone please explain what this is?

This video is a roundup of weapons that weigh 3 units or less, and also a few hidden stat items I came across while data collecting.
Notes:
* Tests were done my usual style, 99 str, dex, int and fth, with a low of 30 for mundane.
* I cut out showing the equipment screen during the display, I trust everyone who has seen my previous videos knows my data is accurate and double checked.
* Tests are done using RoB +2 only. No spells, consumables, or either of the new rings which force a specific spec.
* Weapons are sorted by AR from lowest to highest, using whichever method worked best.
* 'infused' means all things being equal, the infusion type is equal. 'uninfused' means just that.
* other things to consider with light, quick weapons is durability can come into play quickly, counter damage can make a significant difference, and move sets can make these weapons more or less valuable due to play styles. Basically, AR is my base method for sorting and a general guide for picking the right weapon. From there sort by your own needs.
* Still having some audio sync problems which pops up a couple of times, still trying to determine the cause.

Sir Alonne came from an eastern land and chose to serve a little-known and unestablished lord. He became the lord’s most trusted knight and helped him become the Old Iron King. Sir Alonne was a master of the quick-draw and in obeisance to his new lord, Sir Alonne trained the Old Iron King’s men in the sword.
After establishing himself, the Old Iron King descended into absolute depravity. Once, the Old King could have unraveled the greater mysteries, with the aid of his great soul, but he was led astray by his enormous fortune, becoming nothing more than a vulgar hedonist.
At the end of the very peak of his sire’s rule, Sir Alonne disappeared. He was said to have deserted his liege after bearing witness to his descent into depravity, setting out again in search of lands yet unknown. But the loyalty of the Alonne Knight was the stuff of legends. These men, trained by Sir Alonne were renowned for their loyalty, and yet their leader deserted his liege. These two facts do not seem to fit. The Player encounters Sir Alonne in the Memory of the Old Iron King. We know that acts carried out in Memories do affect the history of reality, as seen in the battle against the Giant Lord. If this is the case, then when the Player kills Sir Alonne, they bring an end to his story, and the rumors we read of were simply started as an explanation for this seemingly random event.
After his departure, whether by the Player’s hands or because he truly did set out again, the Old Iron King bequeathed Sir Alonne’s name to his iron warriors. This seems very much like a gesture to a deceased friend, who had helped him become what he was, than the honoring of a traitor who had abandoned the Old Iron King right when he needed him again.
Sir Alonne was a warrior who valued honor greatly. He will bow to the Player before they fight, and if defeated by the Player without taking damage, Sir Alonne will perform Seppuku (ritual suicide).
It is likely that by killing Sir Alonne, we set into motion the events that would eventually end the Old Iron King’s reign. The Undead Curse was spreading throughout his Kingdom and he was in desperate need of guidance, yet his most trusted knight had just departed. The Old Iron King may have turned to his loyal pyromancer; Eygil. Together they may have created the Smelter Demon, perhaps to replace Sir Alonne by his side. But the Demon turned on the Old Iron King and cut him down. His body sunk below and met the one whose name must not be repeated, becoming ichorous earth. His body began to breed lava and eventually it subsumed the Iron Keep.

Dark Souls II (ダークソウルII, Dāku Sōru Tsū) is an action role-playing video game developed by FromSoftware. The third game in the Souls series, Dark Souls II was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360, and published by Bandai Namco Games internationally.

Aegis
The aegis or aigis (Ancient Greek: Αἰγίς; English pronunciation: /ˈiːdʒɪs/), as stated in the Iliad, is carried by Athena and Zeus, but its nature is uncertain. It had been interpreted as an animal skin or a shield, sometimes bearing the head of a Gorgon. There may be a connection with a deity named Aex or Aix, a daughter of Helios and a nurse of Zeus or alternatively a mistress of Zeus (Hyginus, Astronomica 2. 13). The aegis of Athena is referred to in several places in the Iliad. The modern concept of doing something "under someone's aegis" means doing something under the protection of a powerful, knowledgeable, or benevolent source. Lore: Sir Alonne came from an eastern land and chose to serve a little-known and unestablished lord. He became the lord’s most trusted knight and helped him become the Old Iron King. Sir Alonne was a master of the quick-draw and in obeisance to his new lord, Sir Alonne trained the Old Iron King’s men in the sword. After establishing himself, the Old Iron King descended into absolute depravity. Once, the Old King could have unraveled the greater mysteries, with the aid of his great soul, but he was led astray by his enormous fortune, becoming nothing more than a vulgar hedonist. At the end of the very peak of his sire’s rule, Sir Alonne disappeared. He was said to have deserted his liege after bearing witness to his descent into depravity, setting out again in search of lands yet unknown. But the loyalty of the Alonne Knight was the stuff of legends. These men, trained by Sir Alonne were renowned for their loyalty, and yet their leader deserted his liege. These two facts do not seem to fit. The Player encounters Sir Alonne in the Memory of the Old Iron King. We know that acts carried out in Memories do affect the history of reality, as seen in the battle against the Giant Lord. If this is the case, then when the Player kills Sir Alonne, they bring an end to his story, and the rumors we read of were simply started as an explanation for this seemingly random event. After his departure, whether by the Player’s hands or because he truly did set out again, the Old Iron King bequeathed Sir Alonne’s name to his iron warriors. This seems very much like a gesture to a deceased friend, who had helped him become what he was, than the honoring of a traitor who had abandoned the Old Iron King right when he needed him again. Sir Alonne was a warrior who valued honor greatly. He will bow to the Player before they fight, and if defeated by the Player without taking damage, Sir Alonne will perform Seppuku (ritual suicide). It is likely that by killing Sir Alonne, we set into motion the events that would eventually end the Old Iron King’s reign. The Undead Curse was spreading throughout his Kingdom and he was in desperate need of guidance, yet his most trusted knight had just departed. The Old Iron King may have turned to his loyal pyromancer; Eygil. Together they may have created the Smelter Demon, perhaps to replace Sir Alonne by his side. But the Demon turned on the Old Iron King and cut him down. His body sunk below and met the one whose name must not be repeated, becoming ichorous earth. His body began to breed lava and eventually it subsumed the Iron Keep. My let's play of Dark Souls 2 will serve as a gameplay guide / tutorial / walkthrough / playthrough / review with commentary. Dark Souls 2 is an atmospheric action RPG with strong horror elements. It is the follow-up to 2011's cult and critical hit, Dark Souls and it is yet another spiritual successor to From Software's Demon's Souls and King's Field series. The game is heavily influenced by the Berserk manga and anime by Kentaro Miura. Dark Souls 2 was released for the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 on March 11th, 2014. The PC version of the game will be released on April 25th on Steam. About Demon's Souls and Dark Souls: Demon's Souls is a master piece of atmospheric world building and tense action RPG / horror. In Demon's Souls, every facet of the game is steeped in mystery. Very little aside from the necessary controls detailed in the sparse tutorial is made explicit. This fact, coupled with the sheer density of secrets, hidden gear, mechanics, and lore makes for a rich and rewarding game that is as much about discovery as anything else. I could write a novel in the description about how much I love this game, and I would never quite be able to get firm grasp on it. It is a game that has to experienced, either through an LP (hint hint) or through playing it yourself. Whatever sorcery is at work making this such wonderful gem, it stands out as being my favorite RPG ever. Dark Souls is an open world spiritual successor to Demon's Souls. Like Demon's Souls, Dark Souls is a brutal, dark, gothic fantasy action RPG. I could write another love letter to this game here in the description and pore over every wonderfully recognized detail, but there's not enough space to gush. Guy's tough, even with a phantom. Lots of HP and high physical absorption + very heavy hitter. You can bait his single swing by standing just off of his left foot, about 1-2 body lengths away. This results in a single swing that leaves him open for about 2 hits as he recovers. He has a number of flurry combo's, and you'll pretty much just need to read them and find your openings accordingly. Don't get greedy, he can punish that very very easily, especially if you stagger at all. Recommend a sub-70% weight ratio so you can fast-roll, a speed weapon that dish...

Fume Knight NG+7 Solo'd with Velstadt Helm (No Damage) - Sotfs
This is as hard as it gets with Fume Knight. If you wear Velstadt Helm he will buff his sword at the start of the fight. In this form you only have 2 windows of opportunity to attack him. One when he sweep attacks and other when he does the forward thrust attack. King Vendrick Boss Fight - Dark Souls II - Become the King slayer I had 4 Giant Souls at this point. When I had but one Giant soul, I got my ass kicked haha. I left the previous boss fight in-order to do the Dragon/giant memory stuff, hence the health/defense buff of Vendrick. I fought boring, because that's the best way to defeat him. Dark Souls 2.

This video is a roundup of weapons that weigh 3 units or less, and also a few hidden stat items I came across while data collecting. Notes: * Tests were done my usual style, 99 str, dex, int and fth, with a low of 30 for mundane. * I cut out showing the equipment screen during the display, I trust everyone who has seen my previous videos knows my data is accurate and double checked. * Tests are done using RoB +2 only. [Blind Play] 1st playthrough, 1st encounter, 4th attempt. Guy's tough, even with a phantom. Lots of HP and high physical absorption + very heavy hitter. You can bait his single swing by standing just off of his left foot, about 1-2 body lengths away. This results in a single swing that leaves him open for about 2 hits as he recovers. He has a number of flurry combo's, and you'll pretty much just need to read them and find your openings accordingly. Don't get greedy, he can punish that very very easily, especially if you stagger at all. Recommend a sub-70% weight ratio so you can fast-roll, a speed weapon that dishes respectable damage without consuming much stamina (you'll need to conserve some to evade away from him following your attacks), a shield with 100% physical absorption, and Ring of Giants +1 for added poise. Stamina management, pose, patience, and well timed evasions are the keys to this one... and remember, DON'T GET GREEDY. He killed me three times with what looked to be a single HP left, just because I tried to rush to end it to recklessly.

I had 4 Giant Souls at this point. When I had but one Giant soul, I got my ass kicked haha. I left the previous boss fight in-order to do the Dragon/giant memory stuff, hence the health/defense buff of Vendrick. I fought boring, because that's the best way to defeat him.

This video is a roundup of weapons that weigh 3 units or less, and also a few hidden stat items I came across while data collecting.
Notes:
* Tests were done my usual style, 99 str, dex, int and fth, with a low of 30 for mundane.
* I cut out showing the equipment screen during the display, I trust everyone who has seen my previous videos knows my data is accurate and double checked.
* Tests are done using RoB +2 only. No spells, consumables, or either of the new rings which force a specific spec.
* Weapons are sorted by AR from lowest to highest, using whichever method worked best.
* 'infused' means all things being equal, the infusion type is equal. 'uninfused' means just that.
* other things to consider with light, quick weapons is durability can come into play quickly, counter damage can make a significant difference, and move sets can make these weapons more or less valuable due to play styles. Basically, AR is my base method for sorting and a general guide for picking the right weapon. From there sort by your own needs.
* Still having some audio sync problems which pops up a couple of times, still trying to determine the cause.

Sir Alonne came from an eastern land and chose to serve a little-known and unestablished lord. He became the lord’s most trusted knight and helped him become the Old Iron King. Sir Alonne was a master of the quick-draw and in obeisance to his new lord, Sir Alonne trained the Old Iron King’s men in the sword.
After establishing himself, the Old Iron King descended into absolute depravity. Once, the Old King could have unraveled the greater mysteries, with the aid of his great soul, but he was led astray by his enormous fortune, becoming nothing more than a vulgar hedonist.
At the end of the very peak of his sire’s rule, Sir Alonne disappeared. He was said to have deserted his liege after bearing witness to his descent into depravity, setting out again in search of lands yet unknown. But the loyalty of the Alonne Knight was the stuff of legends. These men, trained by Sir Alonne were renowned for their loyalty, and yet their leader deserted his liege. These two facts do not seem to fit. The Player encounters Sir Alonne in the Memory of the Old Iron King. We know that acts carried out in Memories do affect the history of reality, as seen in the battle against the Giant Lord. If this is the case, then when the Player kills Sir Alonne, they bring an end to his story, and the rumors we read of were simply started as an explanation for this seemingly random event.
After his departure, whether by the Player’s hands or because he truly did set out again, the Old Iron King bequeathed Sir Alonne’s name to his iron warriors. This seems very much like a gesture to a deceased friend, who had helped him become what he was, than the honoring of a traitor who had abandoned the Old Iron King right when he needed him again.
Sir Alonne was a warrior who valued honor greatly. He will bow to the Player before they fight, and if defeated by the Player without taking damage, Sir Alonne will perform Seppuku (ritual suicide).
It is likely that by killing Sir Alonne, we set into motion the events that would eventually end the Old Iron King’s reign. The Undead Curse was spreading throughout his Kingdom and he was in desperate need of guidance, yet his most trusted knight had just departed. The Old Iron King may have turned to his loyal pyromancer; Eygil. Together they may have created the Smelter Demon, perhaps to replace Sir Alonne by his side. Lore:
Sir Alonne came from an eastern land and chose to serve a little-known and unestablished lord. He became the lord’s most trusted knight and helped him become the Old Iron King. Sir Alonne was a master of the quick-draw and in obeisance to his new lord, Sir Alonne trained the Old Iron King’s men in the sword.
After establishing himself, the Old Iron King descended into absolute depravity. Once, the Old King could have unraveled the greater mysteries, with the aid of his great soul, but he was led astray by his enormous fortune, becoming nothing more than a vulgar hedonist.
At the end of the very peak of his sire’s rule, Sir Alonne disappeared. He was said to have deserted his liege after bearing witness to his descent into depravity, setting out again in search of lands yet unknown. But the loyalty of the Alonne Knight was the stuff of legends. These men, trained by Sir Alonne were renowned for their loyalty, and yet their leader deserted his liege. These two facts do not seem to fit. The Player encounters Sir Alonne in the Memory of the Old Iron King. We know that acts carried out in Memories do affect the history of reality, as seen in the battle against the Giant Lord. If this is the case, then when the Player kills Sir Alonne, they bring an end to his story, and the rumors we read of were simply started as an explanation for this seemingly random event.
After his departure, whether by the Player’s hands or because he truly did set out again, the Old Iron King bequeathed Sir Alonne’s name to his iron warriors. This seems very much like a gesture to a deceased friend, who had helped him become what he was, than the honoring of a traitor who had abandoned the Old Iron King right when he needed him again.
Sir Alonne was a warrior who valued honor greatly. He will bow to the Player before they fight, and if defeated by the Player without taking damage, Sir Alonne will perform Seppuku (ritual suicide).
It is likely that by killing Sir Alonne, we set into motion the events that would eventually end the Old Iron King’s reign. The Undead Curse was spreading throughout his Kingdom and he was in desperate need of guidance, yet his most trusted knight had just departed. The Old Iron King may have turned to his loyal pyromancer; Eygil. Together they may have created the Smelter Demon, perhaps to replace Sir Alonne by his side. But the Demon turned on the Old Iron King and cut him down. His body sunk below and met the one whose name must not be repeated, becoming ichorous earth. My previous let's plays of Dark Souls and Demon's Souls were meant to be informative and comprehensive commentaries and walkthroughs. My let's play of Dark Souls 2 will serve as a gameplay guide / tutorial / walkthrough / playthrough / review with commentary.
Dark Souls 2 is an atmospheric action RPG with strong horror elements. It is the follow-up to 2011's cult and critical hit, Dark Souls and it is yet another spiritual successor to From Software's Demon's Souls and King's Field series. The game is heavily influenced by the Berserk manga and anime by Kentaro Miura. Dark Souls 2 was released for the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 on March 11th, 2014. The PC version of the game will be released on April 25th on Steam.
About Demon's Souls and Dark Souls:
Demon's Souls is a master piece of atmospheric world building and tense action RPG / horror. In Demon's Souls, every facet of the game is steeped in mystery. Very little aside from the necessary controls detailed in the sparse tutorial is made explicit. This fact, coupled with the sheer density of secrets, hidden gear, mechanics, and lore makes for a rich and rewarding game that is as much about discovery as anything else. I could write a novel in the description about how much I love this game, and I would never quite be able to get firm grasp on it. It is a game that has to experienced, either through an LP (hint hint) or through playing it yourself. Whatever sorcery is at work making this such wonderful gem, it stands out as being my favorite RPG ever.
Dark Souls is an open world spiritual successor to Demon's Souls. Like Demon's Souls, Dark Souls is a brutal, dark, gothic fantasy action RPG. I could write another love letter to this game here in the description and pore over every wonderfully recognized detail, but there's not enough space to gush. What I will say is that Dark Souls is one of my favorite games ever and is at the top of its class.

My previous let's plays of Dark Souls and Demon's Souls were meant to be informative and comprehensive commentaries and walkthroughs. My let's play of Dark Souls 2 will serve as a gameplay guide / tutorial / walkthrough / playthrough / review with commentary.
Dark Souls 2 is an atmospheric action RPG with strong horror elements. It is the follow-up to 2011's cult and critical hit, Dark Souls and it is yet another spiritual successor to From Software's Demon's Souls and King's Field series. The game is heavily influenced by the Berserk manga and anime by Kentaro Miura. Dark Souls 2 was released for the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 on March 11th, 2014. The PC version of the game will be released on April 25th on Steam.
About Demon's Souls and Dark Souls:
Demon's Souls is a master piece of atmospheric world building and tense action RPG / horror. In Demon's Souls, every facet of the game is steeped in mystery. Very little aside from the necessary controls detailed in the sparse tutorial is made explicit. This fact, coupled with the sheer density of secrets, hidden gear, mechanics, and lore makes for a rich and rewarding game that is as much about discovery as anything else. I could write a novel in the description about how much I love this game, and I would never quite be able to get firm grasp on it. It is a game that has to experienced, either through an LP (hint hint) or through playing it yourself. Whatever sorcery is at work making this such wonderful gem, it stands out as being my favorite RPG ever.
Dark Souls is an open world spiritual successor to Demon's Souls. Like Demon's Souls, Dark Souls is a brutal, dark, gothic fantasy action RPG. I could write another love letter to this game here in the description and pore over every wonderfully recognized detail, but there's not enough space to gush. What I will say is that Dark Souls is one of my favorite games ever and is at the top of its class.
