Anti-competitive practices are business, government or religious practices that prevent or reduce competition in a market (see restraint of trade).
These can include:
The Competition may refer to:
The Competition Act is a Canadian federal law governing competition law in Canada. The Act contains both criminal and civil provisions aimed at preventing anti-competitive practices in the marketplace. The Act is enforced and administered by the Competition Bureau.
The first legislation in Canada dealing with competition was first introduced in 1889. The legislation prohibited conspiracies and agreements by businesses in restraint of trade. Inspired by the American Sherman Antitrust Act, the legislation was mostly incorporated into the Canadian Criminal Code two years later. In 1912, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled that the purpose of the legislation was protect the public interest in free competition. The provisions remained in the Criminal Code until 1960, when the federal government introduced the Combines Investigation Act.
In 1986, the legislation was again amended and renamed the Competition Act by the conservative government of Brian Mulroney.
Crash Course (also known as Driving Academy) is a 1988 made for television teen film directed by Oz Scott.
Crash Course centers on a group of high schoolers in a driver’s education class; many for the second or third time. The recently divorced teacher, super-passive Larry Pearl, is on thin ice with the football fanatic principal, Principal Paulson, who is being pressured by the district superintendent to raise driver’s education completion rates or lose his coveted football program. With this in mind, Principal Paulson and his assistant, with a secret desire for his job, Abner Frasier, hire an outside driver’s education instructor with a very tough reputation, Edna Savage, aka E.W. Savage, who quickly takes control of the class.
The plot focuses mostly on the students and their interactions with their teachers and each other. In the beginning, Rico is the loner with just a few friends, Chadley is the bookish nerd with few friends who longs to be cool and also longs to be a part of Vanessa’s life who is the young, friendly and attractive girl who had to fake her mother’s signature on her driver’s education permission slip. Kichi is the hip-hop Asian kid who often raps what he has to say and constantly flirts with Maria, the rich foreign girl who thinks that the right-of-way on the roadways always goes to (insert awesomely fake foreign Latino accent) “my father’s limo”. Finally you have stereotypical football meathead J.J., who needs to pass his English exam to keep his eligibility and constantly asks out and gets rejected by Alice, the tomboy whose father owns “Santini & Son” Concrete Company. Alice is portrayed as being the “son” her father wanted.
What is a monopoly? It turns out, it's more than just a board game. It's a terrible, terrible economic practice in which giant corporations dominate markets and hurt consumers. Except when it isn't. In some industries, monopolies are the most efficient way to do business. Utilities like electricity, water, and broadband internet access are probably less efficiently delivered in competitive markets. Come along, and let us monopolize your attention for a few minutes. A Taiwan court said on Wednesday, Apple Inc has lost a lawsuit in which it was accused of engaging in anti-competitive practices and will be fined T$20 million ($647,124). The island's Fair Trade Commission had previously levied the fine against the Silicon Valley firm for requiring its major Taiwan telecom partners to receive approval for pricing plans for its wildly popular iPhone series in advance of public release, in violation of Taiwanese law. The case was the first example of a jurisdiction fining the tech powerhouse for limiting the ability of its telecom partners to set its own prices, according to the commission. http://feeds.reuters.com/~r/reuters/topNews/~3/HzdvVnJ6ECE/story01.htm http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by Wochit using http://wochit.com
An EU document showed EU antitrust regulators plan to order Alphabet's Google to stop paying financial incentives to smartphone makers to pre-install Google Search exclusively on their devices. The regulators warned the company of a large fine. Running to more than 150 pages, the document was sent to complainants last week for feedback. Google received a copy in April. The European Commission accused it of using its dominant Android mobile operating system to shut out rivals. The EU competition enforcer in its charge sheet said it planned to tell the U.S. technology giant to halt payments or discounts to mobile phone manufacturers in return for pre-installing Google's Play Store with Google Search. The regulators also want to prevent Google from forcing smartphone makers to pre-install its...

Professor Robert Emerson discusses antitrust and anticompetitive practices: When we see clowns, we often have, I believe, conflicting emotions. Sure, we often look at them and get a mirthful feeling, we feel happy, we think funny thoughts, but at the same time when we look at clowns we often wonder are they, in fact, good or are they evil. Now, sometimes I believe the same conflicting emotions can be found when we're regarding antitrust law. Perhaps, depending on circumstances, you look at a computer system which you operate and you are very upset with how it's working, and you look at the people responsible for the software programming and you decide that they are engaged in anticompetitive practices and that's why their product isn't as good as it should be or there aren't any reas...
