Penmark

Penmark (Welsh: Pen-marc) is a rural village south-west of Barry near Rhoose in the Vale of Glamorgan, in South Wales. The village is a parish and is a Linear village. It has a parish church along the main road running through the village.

Penmark is located near the international airport for Wales, Cardiff International Airport.

Penmark Castle

The village has the remains of a 13th-century castle. Overlooking the 30m deep ravine of the River Waycock north of the local church are the remains of a 13th-century wall 1m thick around a court 65m long by 47m wide with a more thinly walled 16th century outer court to the west. The moat has been filled in but there are extensive footings on the east side of the court and on the west side are overgrown ruins of a tower 7m in diameter with a rectangular latrine turret to the south and various other structures. Gilbert de Umfraville had a timber motte and bailey castle on this site in the 12th century. In the time of Edward II Oliver de St John obtained the castle when he married Elizabeth Umfraville, the young heiress.

The Bad Seed

The Bad Seed is a 1954 novel by American writer William March, the last of his major works published before his death.

Nominated for the 1955 National Book Award for Fiction, The Bad Seed tells the story of a mother's realization that her young daughter has committed a murder, or two. Its enormous critical and commercial success was largely realized after March's death only one month after publication.

In 1954 the novel was adapted into a successful and long-running Broadway play by Maxwell Anderson, and in 1956 into an Academy Award-nominated film directed by Mervyn LeRoy.

Plot summary

Eight-year-old Rhoda Penmark appears to be what every little girl brought up in a loving home should be. Outwardly, she is charming, polite and intelligent beyond her years. To most adults, she's every parent's dream: obedient, well groomed, unassuming and compliant. She does her homework on time, gets good grades and attends Sunday school each and every week. However, most children who know Rhoda keep their distance from her, sensing that there is something not quite right about her.

Vale of Glamorgan

The Vale of Glamorgan (Welsh: Bro Morgannwg [ˈbroː mɔrˈɡanʊɡ]) is a county borough in Wales. The Vale of Glamorgan has an agricultural industry and is the southernmost unitary authority in Wales. The Vale of Glamorgan, sometimes known locally as "the Vale", has a rich history and geography.

The Vale has several notable attractions including Barry Island Pleasure Park (known for the BBC sitcom, Gavin & Stacey), the Barry Tourist Railway, Porthkerry Park, St Donat's Castle, Cosmeston Lakes Country Park and Cosmeston Medieval Village. It is also the location of Atlantic College, one of the United World Colleges.

The largest town is Barry. Other towns include Penarth, Llantwit Major and Cowbridge. There are many villages in the county borough. The Vale of Glamorgan was revealed to be the wealthiest area in Wales in a 2003 survey conducted by Barclays Bank that measured disposable income.

Geography

The Vale of Glamorgan has been a county borough (unitary authority) since 1996: before that it was part of South Glamorgan county. The largest centre of population is Barry. Other towns include Cowbridge, Dinas Powys, Llantwit Major and Penarth, but much of the population inhabits villages, hamlets and individual farms. The area is low-lying, with a greatest height of 137 metres (449 ft) above sea level.

Guitar Pro is a multitrack editor of guitar and bass tablature and musical scores, possessing a built-in MIDI-editor, a plotter of chords, a player, a metronome and other tools for guitarists and musicians. It has versions for Windows, Mac OS X (Intel processors only), and Linux and is written by the French company Arobas Music.

History

There have been four popular public major releases of the software: versions 3–6. Guitar Pro was initially designed as a tablature editor, but has since evolved into a full-fledged score writer including support for many musical instruments other than guitar.

Until it reached version 4, the software was only available for Microsoft Windows. Later, Guitar Pro 5 (released November 2005) undertook a year-long porting effort and Guitar Pro 5 for the Mac OS X was released in July 2006. On April 5, 2010, Guitar Pro 6, a completely redesigned version, was released. This version also supports Linux, with Ubuntu being the officially supported distribution.
