Short Pump may refer to:
Short Pump is a census-designated place (CDP) in Henrico County, Virginia, United States. The population was 24,729 at the 2010 census.
The original village of Short Pump is located at the intersection of Three Chopt Road (formerly known as Three Notched Trail), Richmond Turnpike and Pouncey Tract Road. It was named for the short handled pump that was located beneath the porch of a tavern located there. The tavern was built by Robert Hyde Saunders, a Revolutionary War veteran in 1815. This area was on the principal route between Richmond and Charlottesville, as well as other towns in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Thomas Jefferson, the Earl Cornwallis, the Marquis de Lafayette, General Peter Muhlenberg, Stonewall Jackson and Ulric Dahlgren all visited this area.
The crossroads was officially named Short Pump by 1853, according to a Henrico County map found in the Virginia Historical Society.
Short Pump's population has greatly increased in recent years due to its proximity to Richmond. It has now become part of Richmond's Far West End. In 2003, developers opened Short Pump Town Center, a 1,200,000-square-foot (110,000 m2) open air shopping mall. The mall has now been joined by other massive shopping and living spaces, most notably West Broad Village

Starbucks, Cold Stone Creamery, and Virginia Shoppe & Diner are also located in the mall. As of summer 2015, the food court has been permanently closed and an L.L. Bean constructed in its place.
A town center is the commercial or geographical center or core area of a town.
Town Center may also refer to:
A pump is a device that moves fluids (liquids or gases), or sometimes slurries, by mechanical action. Pumps can be classified into three major groups according to the method they use to move the fluid: direct lift, displacement, and gravity pumps.
Pumps operate by some mechanism (typically reciprocating or rotary), and consume energy to perform mechanical work by moving the fluid. Pumps operate via many energy sources, including manual operation, electricity, engines, or wind power, come in many sizes, from microscopic for use in medical applications to large industrial pumps.
Mechanical pumps serve in a wide range of applications such as pumping water from wells, aquarium filtering, pond filtering and aeration, in the car industry for water-cooling and fuel injection, in the energy industry for pumping oil and natural gas or for operating cooling towers. In the medical industry, pumps are used for biochemical processes in developing and manufacturing medicine, and as artificial replacements for body parts, in particular the artificial heart and penile prosthesis.
