A race's host city isn't merely a backdrop—it's the very stage where the drama unfolds. The riders are its performers. The roads and cobbled climbs are its props. The course profile, its libretto. And when all is in motion on the stage, they play off of the rich textures and culture of the city.
For this year's UCI Road World Championships, the stage will be set by the city of Richmond, Virginia. So we found it prudent to examine the vibrant elements that make up the colors of Richmond, and how they work together to be the perfect host for the most prestigious one-day event in all of cycling.
On our journey, we meet a handful of the key players of the zeitgeist, from artists to artisans, and get their take on what makes Richmond, not only the perfect course for Worlds, but also the perfect place to live.
Richmond. It's where the South meets the North, where old meets new, and where cycling, in all of its forms, has found a welcoming, permanent home. The stage is set—now it's time to ride.

Not 5 minutes after the First Grain train passed, a rumble came once again from the west. A second grain train came rolling in behind a pair of YN3 ES44AH Gevos, typical RF&P; lashup. This one really surprised me with two trains in less than 5 minutes!
He eventually slowed to a stop then pulled away again.

Richmond, Virginia
Richmond (/ˈrɪtʃmənd/ RICH-mənd) is the capital of the Commonwealth of Virginia, in the United States. It is the center of the Richmond Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) and the Greater Richmond Region. While it was incorporated in 1742, Richmond has been an independent city since 1871.
As of the 2010 census, the population was 204,214; in 2014, the population was estimated to be 217,853, the fourth-most populous city in Virginia. The Richmond Metropolitan Area has a population of 1,260,029, the third-most populous metro in the state.
Richmond is located at the fall line of the James River, 44 miles (71 km) west of Williamsburg, 66 miles (106 km) east of Charlottesville, and 98 miles (158 km) south of Washington, D.C. Surrounded by Henrico and Chesterfield counties, the city is located at the intersections of Interstate 95 and Interstate 64, and encircled by Interstate 295 and Virginia State Route 288. Major suburbs include Midlothian to the southwest, Glen Allen to the north and west, Short Pump to the west and Mechanicsville to the northeast.

Not 5 minutes after the First Grain train passed, a rumble came once again from the west. A second grain train came rolling in behind a pair of YN3 ES44AH Gevos, typical RF&P; lashup. This one really surprised me with two trains in less than 5 minutes!
He eventually slowed to a stop then pulled away again.

Incredible Christmas Toy Train Display!! Bevell's Hardware, Blackstone Va 2015
Well lying about 1 hour 30 minutes from Richmond is the little town of Blackstone Va, a small country town inside the boundaries of Nottaway County. On Saturday December 5th I hunted just about 5 miles outside downtown Blackstone, and around 1pm we came into town to eat and visit the train display, which I haven't done in a few years. this year's display featured some of my favorites, a NS Virginian Locomotive, NW 611 steam engine, so ridiculously long steam engines, and a awesome CSX Dash 9 on Display! I took a few clips and mixed it with some seasonal appropriate music, I sincerely hope you enjoy and have a wonderful holiday season!

Well lying about 1 hour 30 minutes from Richmond is the little town of Blackstone Va, a small country town inside the boundaries of Nottaway County.
On Saturday December 5th I hunted just about 5 miles outside downtown Blackstone, and around 1pm we came into town to eat and visit the train display, which I haven't done in a few years. this year's display featured some of my favorites, a NS Virginian Locomotive, NW 611 steam engine, so ridiculously long steam engines, and a awesome CSX Dash 9 on Display!
I took a few clips and mixed it with some seasonal appropriate music, I sincerely hope you enjoy and have a wonderful holiday season!
