The Muses /ˈmjuːzᵻz/ (Ancient Greek: Μοῦσαι Mousai; perhaps from the o-grade of the Proto-Indo-European root *men- "think") in Greek mythology are the goddesses of the inspiration of literature, science, and the arts. They were considered the source of the knowledge embodied in the poetry, song-lyrics, and myths that were related orally for centuries in these ancient cultures. They were later adopted by the Romans as a part of their pantheon.
In current English usage, "muse" can refer in general to a person who inspires an artist, writer, or musician.
Political allusions to the influential roles that the muse plays within the political sphere has also been referenced in current American literature.
The earliest known records of the Muses are from Boeotia, the homeland of Hesiod. Some ancient authorities thought that the Muses were of Thracian origin. There, a tradition persisted that the Muses had once been three in number. Diodorus Siculus quotes Hesiod to the contrary, observing:
Shame is a painful, social emotion that can be seen as resulting "...from comparison of the self's action with the self's standards...". but which may equally stem from comparison of the self's state of being with the ideal social context's standard. Thus, shame may stem from volitional action or simply self-regard; no action by the shamed being is required: simply existing is enough. Both the comparison and standards are enabled by socialization. Though usually considered an emotion, shame may also variously be considered an affect, cognition, state, or condition.
The roots of the word shame are thought to derive from an older word meaning "to cover"; as such, covering oneself, literally or figuratively, is a natural expression of shame. Nineteenth century scientist Charles Darwin, in his book The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals, described shame affect as consisting of blushing, confusion of mind, downward cast eyes, slack posture, and lowered head, and he noted observations of shame affect in human populations worldwide. He also noted the sense of warmth or heat (associated with the vasodilation of the face and skin) occurring in intense shame.
"Never Have I Ever", also known as "I've Never…" or "Ten Fingers", is a drinking game.
The verbal game is started with the players getting into a circle. Then, the first player says a simple statement starting with "Never have I ever". Anyone who has done what the first player has not must drink. Play then continues around the circle, and the next person makes a statement. An additional rule – uncommon, but beneficial to the game –is that if there is no one taking a drink, then the one who said the particular "I have never…" must take a drink. This rule often forces the players to strategize more and makes for less disposable/pointless suggestions.
A further variation holds that whenever only one person is drinking, that person must give a detailed account of why they are drinking. Another variation of this game involves putting up five or ten fingers, putting one down whenever something mentioned has been done. Those who end up putting down all of their fingers must take several successive drinks.
Muse ♥ Lyrics: I know there's something That you're dying to tell me I hope it's not about it in case you love me Make sure no one finds out Tell me all about it Don't keep it to yourself Because I can't bear the thought I never needed your cry I know you love me It doesn't matter because I'm in control I know that you're ashamed So emotional it kills you Don't you know that you're ashamed So emotional it kills you There's always something that makes you guilty There's still something that you're dying to tell me Make sure no one finds out Tell me all about it Don't keep it to yourself Because I can't bear the thought I never needed your cry I know you love me It doesn't matter because I'm in control I know that you're ashamed So emotional it kills y...
Rare early footage showing Muse playing one of their greatest tracks at an unknown venue in Germany, 2000. This is the only known live video of Ashamed, unearthed recently thanks to the hard work of the Muse Bootlegs team. Ashamed first appeared on the 1996/7 Newton Abbot demo tape, and was later re recorded and released as a b-side on Sunburn CD1. This track also features on the Hullabaloo CD2 b-side compilation. Search for "ashamed" in the Muse Collectors discography to find this track on all known demos and collectable releases. Many Muse videos end with them playing the Ashamed Outro - now you can enjoy the full track in all its energetic glory. From: MBDVD015
