hi guys So our trip in Canmore was 3 nights and 4 days. We stayed at The GeorgeTown Inn in Canmore and it was a wonderful inn, would definitely recommend. We started our day off shopping downtown Canmore, after that we walked the Bow River Loop, a 2km walk with 0 elevation starting off our trip easily. Downtown Canmore is bordered by the Bow River. The river is a stunning blue/green fast paced river with the views of Mount Rundle, an old railroad bridge and the famous Three Sisters Mountain Range. For the next day we went into Banff National Park starting with shopping downtown and got some shots of the Bow River. Banff is the highest town in Canada with an elevation of 4,537 feet (1.383 meters). We then drove to Sulphur Mountain Gondola, where we were able to see a ton of friendly squirrels, some big horn sheep and something that looked like a big prairie dog. The glass enclosed gondola car holds four people and offers each of them a 360 degree view during the ride. In just 8 minutes you will be whisked up Sulphur Mountain to an elevation of 2,281 meters (7,486 feet) above sea level, where they have a restaurant, some gift shops and an extra walking path on the mountain. After that we visited Cascade Gardens which unfortunately was not fully bloomed but still beautiful. The garden is a full of bright colourful flowers (more than 50,000 flowers), bushes, trees and ponds in summer (June - September). After that we took a little visit to the Bow Falls in Banff, a super busy tourist attraction before heading to The Cave and Basin National Historic Site. As the birthplace of Canada’s national parks, Cave and Basin is the heart of Canada’s natural and cultural heritage. The next thing on our list was to visit Lake Minnewanka, the largest man-made lake in Banff and the only one on which power boats are permitted. Minnewanka, meaning “Lake of the water spirit.” Ending the day we drove to Lake Louise to go canoeing, sadly I got no footage being in the canoe, but got some clips of the gorgeous water. Lake Louise is the most famous glacial lake in the Canadian Rockies and one of the most beautiful in the Western hemisphere. The lake, named after Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, daughter of Queen Victoria, is 1,730 meters (5,680 feet) above sea level. The nearest surrounding mountains, Mt. Lefroy and Mt. Fairview, add to the remarkable picture. Melting Glacier silt creates the striking turquoise colour of the lake and keeps it a frigid temperature year-round. For our last day and to finish the trip we did a 6km one-way route into the famous & scenic Ink Pots and surrounding meadows with mostly challenging climbs & descents, very scenic route, the Ink Pots are mineral rich pools with interesting colours. The Ink pots are unique because you can see the water bubbling up from the earth and each pond has a unique blue or green tint to it. The walk to the Ink Pots was completely uphill, extremely hard but worth it. The way back is all downhill so we basically cut our time in half.
