The Seventh One

The Seventh One is Toto's seventh studio album. It was released in 1988, and became the best-received Toto album since Toto IV. The Seventh One is the second and last album until 2015's Toto XIV to feature Joseph Williams on lead vocals. He was fired after the Seventh One world tour due to loss of voice attributed to drug abuse. The single "Pamela" reached number 22 in the Billboard charts. The title track, "The Seventh One," is only featured on the Japanese version of the album and on the B-side of the "Pamela" single. It was also released on some compilations on a later date.

Reception

Though critically well-received, The Seventh One was the first Toto album since Turn Back to have fewer than two charting hits in the US. According to Allmusic, it was a combination of this fact and the "anonymous" sound of the album's songs which led to The Seventh One becoming the lowest charting Toto album on the Billboard Charts up to that point. However, the album entered the Top 10 in numerous European countries, earning Gold and Platinum certifications.

Coming of age

Coming of age is a young person's transition from being a child to being an adult. The certain age at which this transition takes place changes in society, as does the nature of the change. It can be a simple legal convention or can be part of a ritual or spiritual event, as practiced by many societies. In the past, and in some societies today, such a change is associated with the age of sexual maturity (early adolescence); in others, it is associated with an age of religious responsibility. Particularly in western societies, modern legal conventions which stipulate points in late adolescence or early adulthood (most commonly 18-21 when adolescents are generally no longer considered minors and are granted the full rights and responsibilities of an adult) are the focus of the transition. Coming of age is often a topic of fiction, in the form of a coming-of-age story. In literature, a novel which deals with the psychological and moral growth often associated with coming of age is sometimes called a bildungsroman. Similar stories that are told in film are called coming-of-age films.

Magic Affair

Magic Affair is a German dance group. The band originally consisted of the duo, the lead singer Franca Morgano and the American rapper A.K.-S.W.I.F.T. (Burnell Keith Herring). They were founded and produced by Mike Stabb.

1993–94: Formation and Omen (The Story Continues...)

Magic Affair were founded as a Mysterious Art spin-off and produced by Mike Stabb, a band where Stabb himself was a member. The original band members of Magic Affair are the lead singer Franca Morgano and the rapper A.K.-S.W.I.F.T. (Burnell Keith Herring, born in 1969 in Chicago). The group's first single Omen III has been first introduced and released in 1993 under the shortened artist name M.A., which initial letters refers to both, the originated band name Mysterious Art and the upcoming spin-off band name Magic Affair. Also the singles' name "Omen III" and the debut album title "Omen (The Story Continues...)" are references to Mysterious Art's 1989er debut album "Omen - The Story" and its first two hit single releases "Das Omen (Teil 1)" and "Carma (Omen 2)". "Omen III" achieved success in Europe and worldwide, reaching #1 in the German Single chart and sold gold and platinum in Germany and Austria, and peaked #17 in the UK Singles Chart. "Omen III" was followed in 1994 by the debut studio album "Omen (The Story Continues...)" and the three singles "Give Me All Your Love", "In the Middle of the Night" and "Fire", which peaked #6, #16 and #20 in the German single chart respectively. Due to a dispute between Herring and Morgano, who wouldn't bear his macho temper, Herring was briefly replaced by rapper Alfonso Daniel Morgan. Because of no success and no material been released, Herring soon returned a few months later. That's a reason why Morgan has never been officially recognized as a former Magic Affair member.
