The Southern Hemisphere is the half sphere of the Earth which is south of the equator. It contains all or parts of five continents (Antarctica, Australia, about 9/10 of South America, the southern third of Africa, and several southern islands off the continental mainland in Asia), four oceans (Indian, South Atlantic, Southern, and South Pacific) and most of Oceania. Due to the tilt of Earth's rotation relative to the Sun and the ecliptic plane, summer is from December to March and winter is from June to September. September 22 or 23 is the vernal equinox and March 20 or 21 is the autumnal equinox.
Southern Hemisphere climates tend to be slightly milder than those at similar latitudes in the Northern Hemisphere, except in the Antarctic which is colder than the Arctic. This is because the Southern Hemisphere has significantly more ocean and much less land; water heats up and cools down more slowly than land.

ATTENTION FLAT EARTHERS: You are welcome to leave comments on my videos which directly address the argument being made in the respective video. If you leave a vapid comment claiming that I'm making assumptions, that all I have is maths or some other inane drivel; I will block you without a moments hesitation. You must understand that I have less than zero respect for you and your tragic delusions. You have been warned flat brainers. In this video I share a few thoughts on this particular argument concerning flights in the Southern Hemisphere. Can I make it clear that I am in no way suggesting that the involvement of John Travolta gives the Qantas promotion credibility. I would agree that if anything it detracts credibility. The point I am making is that that the involvement of a celebri...

A time-lapse of Planet Earth, created from images produced by the geostationary Electro-L Weather Satellite. The images were obtained beginning on May 14th, and end on May 20th. The images are the largest whole disk images of our planet, each image is 121 megapixels, and the resolution is 1 kilometer per pixel. They are taken every half hour, and have been interpolated (smoothed) to create this video. The images are taken in four different wavelengths of light, three visible, and one infrared. The infrared light is reflected by forests and vegetation, which appear orange in these images. Images Copyright NTs OMZ. OK. Don't shoot me, but I've been reconsidering the Gleason's Standard Map, aka the Azimuthal Equidistant (Flat Earth) Map. Could it really be scientifically and practically accurate "As It Is?" Could it hold the key to solving the problem of the flights in the so called southern hemisphere? Could this be the piece TigerDan was missing when he set out to make his map? I am beginning to think so. I just threw this video together real quick, so please pardon any mistakes and the poor audio. Unfortunately, I didn't have my headset mic selected for audio on Google Hangout, so it grabbed the audio from my cheap webcam. Many of the Christian festivals traditionally draw imagery and symbolism from the northern hemisphere seasons. Christmas is often described as a light in the darkness of winter, and Easter reflects the new life emerging in spring. Rudolf Steiner also offered various descriptions of the relation of the festivals to seasons. This has led some to suggest that Christian festivals in the southern hemisphere should be celebrated at opposite times of the year: for example, celebrating Christmas in June, or Easter in September. Is that really what Steiner was suggesting? This insightful book thoroughly reviews all of Steiner's words on the subject, as well as the writings of other anthroposophical thinkers. Steiner shared cosmic, spiritual imaginations for the northern hemisphere, and in this book...
